VBF wants you to know!
Regular(ish) newsletter for my students & library supporters

February 2025
Welcome!
If you knew me in my elementary school librarian era, then you know that I was fairly consistent with a newsletter. Each month, I shared events happening in the library, websites of interest, and other tidbits I found to share with my school community throughout the month. It may have taken about 7 years for me to realize this but I STILL need a newsletter as a library educator - I find so many wonderful things that librarians can use when I am doing research or planning presentations or putting a lecture together - I don't need to be an idea gatekeeper! So, I hope you enjoy...I will try to make this a monthly newsletter, but please "forgive me if it goes astray" ;)

Get Ready, Stay Ready Community Action Toolkit
From the website: The Get Ready, Stay Ready: Community Action Toolkit is an effort by a group of parents and librarians who believe that the power is in community, in togetherness, in a collective outcry and a collective pushback against those who want to erase our stories , our history, our existence. Here you will find curated resources including scripts for public speaking and writing, fantastic video presentations, training materials equipping you to learn more about (and fight back) censorship's impact on education and society, tools for civic engagement, and a network of organizations across the country that are determined to preserve your child's right to a high-quality education through intellectual freedom.
READCON: A Curriculum for Library Readiness, Advocacy, and Community Empowerment During Challenging Conditions
From the website: This website houses a collection of online short courses, designed to equip you with the tools and strategies necessary to foster constructive dialogue, de-escalate tense situations, connect with stakeholders and leaders, and develop positive messaging.
