MUSTANG PARENT ALERT
T. L. MARSALIS ELEMENTARY STEAM ACADEMY
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello Mustang Families!
Welcome Back! As I return for my 19th year as the principal at Marsalis, the staff and I are delighted to begin a new year of learning with our "Marvelous" Mustangs and value our partnership with all of you. As we begin this year, please know that your child will be receiving a high quality education from extremely talented teachers who are committed to academic excellence. Each month, you will receive our Mustang Parent Alert filled with important information, dates and tips to help you partner with us. Please take time to review the newsletter and make sure you meet your child's teacher(s), provide a consistent form of communication to ask questions or share any concerns you may have throughout the year. We are here to help your child and your family be successful.
I have also included our Dallas ISD projected accountability rating for the 2023-2024 school year. We are super excited that we are projected to be a "B" campus and are proud of the hard work both our students and teachers completed last year that resulted in this accomplishment. Our schoolwide theme this year is "The Gold Standard" and we are focused on ensuring that we continue to be a premier campus in the city of Dallas!

WOODS' WORDS OF WISDOM
Welcome to Marsalis! I am excited about this school year and am enjoying meeting all of our new and returning students and families. In the first weeks of the school year, I am focused solely on student safety. In my observations over this first week, I want to remind everyone of the following:
- Please follow the school zone speed limits when traveling Marsalis Avenue in front of our campus.
- Please follow our crossing guard's directions and allow them to escort your child safety across our main streets.
- Please refrain from turning around in the middle of the street to ensure that no child is injured when they are getting dropped off or picked up.
Lastly, Scottsboro Drive is our bus zone area and is also a ONE-WAY street during school hours. We are requesting that you do not double-park in our loading zone areas or obstruct our buses ability to exit the campus safely in the afternoons.

Meet Our New Counselor!
Greetings Marsalis Mustang,
I am honored to serve as your school counselor for the 2024-2025 school year. It has been a complete joy to serve in the position as a school counselor for over 10 years in Dallas Independent School District. I have been married to my amazing husband for 20 plus years and we have 3 awesome daughters. Hanging out with my sister and watching Hallmark is one of my most favorite pastimes. Serving and supporting young scholars, families, campus faculty and staff, and the community at large is my why for this wonderful work I am privileged to do each day. Let's have an marvelous school year Mustangs!
