Madison High School is home to an amazing opportunity for Juniors and Seniors. Students have the opportunity to earn their Phlebotomy Technician Certification while still enrolled and they need your help to complete that certification. One of the requirements is to have "live sticks" as they call them. Venipunctures are real people, and those people are all volunteers. We will be hosting a "Super Stick Saturday" where you can volunteer. We take anyone 6 years old and up and a waiver is required. Students and anyone under 18 are required to have parental consent with a waiver. Please consider helping out these students on Saturday, March 22 in Ag Commons. The information flyer is listed below under 'Coming Up Soon'. Hope to see you all there!
Our Madison Cluster San Antonio Food Bank Distribution will be on Thurs., Mar. 20th from 1:00pm - 2:00pm. See the flyer below in the "Coming Up Soon" section for more information.

On March 29, our campus will be sponsoring a Suicide Awareness Campus Walk. Long before the tragic events of this past fall, HOSA had decided to host the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Campus Walk here at Madison. This will be the first ever Campus Walk in San Antonio and now, more than ever, we need to make sure that Suicide Prevention is a top priority. I would like to invite you all to participate in this amazing day. There will be resource vendors with a lot of information, fundraising activities on site, Honor Beads to wear to honor those who have lost their lives to suicide, and more.
Come out and show that Madison supports this worthy cause! Your participation will be greatly appreciated.
Ms. Tolbert was recently interviewed by News 4 regarding the upcoming Suicide Prevention Campus Walk. Their goal is to have 250 walkers participating. Right now, we have 148 walkers. You can help us reach this goal by registering today using the link listed above. There is no charge to register.

Every Spring semester, NEISD offers Stop the Bleed training to students in 7th-12th grade and will continue to offer it on an annual basis. This training is so important, and it is exciting to think about students having this knowledge which could potentially save lives! The training for students consists of two parts:
Part 1: A Stop the Bleed online interactive course
- The link to this course is included in the attached permission form sent out to parents/guardians by you. Parents/guardians will decide if they want to allow their child to complete this 25-minute course at home.
Part 2: An in-person skills demonstration with the school nurse after completing the course
- If parents/guardians would like their student to become officially certified in Stop the Bleed, they will fill out the permission form and turn it into the school nurse to have their child participate in the in-person, hands-on portion after they have completed the course.
Any student who completes the online interactive course at home and completes the hands-on portion with their campus nurse will be given a Stop the Bleed Certificate. Information is shown on the flyers below.

BE A VOICE FOR YOUR STUDENT!
Hello Mavericks!
It's time for another exciting school year to start and we hope your start has been a great one. A very important part of Madison High School is our PTSA.
Madison's PTSA supports critical academic needs, is an active voice on decisions that impact your child's health, safety and quality of education, and builds a stronger, more inclusive school community. Who can join? Anyone can join; parents, guardians, students, grandparents, teachers, alumni, and family members.
We invite you to renew your membership and PTSA FOR ALL STUDENTS because increasing our membership, even by one, makes it possible to:
*Bring educational & enrichment programs to our campus;
*Advocate for every child and teacher at the State and Federal level;
*Support various campus student organizations;
*Sponsor Senior Scholarships;
*Support Madison faculty and staff.
There is no wrong or right way to be involved-anything you can give, whether it's time or money, will support your child's potential. Volunteering is not a requirement to join PTSA. We invite you to join because we can do more together than apart. It only take 5 minutes to join: www.joinpta.org
If you have already joined, THANK YOU!
With kindest regards,
James Madison Senior High PTSA

PTA INFORMATION
Greetings PTA Presidents and Principals -
The Clothes Closet looks forward to partnering with your campus for the 2024-25 school year to fulfill our PTA mission to make every child's potential a reality by providing students with school appropriate clothing. To achieve this goal, we need your help.
First, please share in your Welcome Packet this 24-25 Clothes Closet Flyer. Many families are unaware of this resource, how to utilize it when there is a need, and how to donate needed items. Part of our continued success will be found by spreading the word to new families and to others in our community.
Secondly, please familiarize your board with the 2024-25 Clothes Closet Schedule and Volunteer SignUp.com link. Each campus is assigned one volunteer shift for the school year. This is an opportunity for your general membership to participate in a very impactful program - no experience necessary!
We look forward to working with you. Please let me know if you have any questions.
