In the event of a snow day school closing as determined by Maryville City Schools, MVS will cancel all on-site meetings and any virtual Zoom meetings. Students are still expected to complete all assignments on time for the week and due dates will not change. If your ability to complete assignments is affected by weather-related loss of power or Wi-Fi, students are to email teachers when they are able and request guidance. MCS delayed start or early dismissal will only alter the times of on-site or Zoom meetings that fall within the shifted time. If changes need to be made, MVS staff will email families directly. 25-26 FAFSA for Seniors Preparing for College
As you may know, the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) has been launched at FAFSA.gov! As a reminder, TN Promise students are required to submit the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by 11:59 PM on April 15, 2025 to maintain scholarship eligibility!
Below are a few tips for students to successfully file the FAFSA!
- The application must be completed at FAFSA.gov; students should not use any other websites for completion.
- Students should select the 2025-2026 FAFSA. If the incorrect year’s FAFSA is completed, even by the April 15, 2025 deadline, students will become permanently ineligible for TN Promise.
- The items below are needed to complete the application:
- Student and parent 2023 tax information
- Student and parent will each need a verified FSA ID. If either do not have a verified FSA ID, they will need to create one before completing the 2025-2026 FAFSA. Students and parents will use their FSA IDs to log in and electronically sign the FAFSA each academic year. For a step-by-step guide on how to create an FSA ID, please click here or follow the instructions below!
- Students/parents will need their respective Social Security Number, a valid email address and other personal information to complete the application.
- Visit FAFSA.gov! Then, click Create Account in the upper right-hand corner.
- Select Get Started to begin filling in personal information. It is extremely important that accurate information is entered!
- Once an FSA ID is created, it must be verified by the Social Security Administration (SSA). This process may take up to 7 business days!
- Once student and parent FSA IDs are verified, they are ready to file the 2025-2026 FAFSA!

Procedure Reminders
Ready to Start Driving?
Students must request their 1010 Form before going to the DMV to receive their Learner’s Permit. Please call MVS or email Jennifer Davis. 1010 forms are given based on the previous 9 weeks' grades. If you are failing multiple classes, you are not eligible for a 1010 form until your grades are brought up to passing. The 1010 forms are good for 30 days during the school year.
Turning in Late Work?
If you are turning in any late work, be sure to always contact your teacher after submitting the assignment. Teachers are not notified when a student submits assignments after the due date, so they may not know you even turned something in.
Feeling Sick?
Please remember to email your teachers and the MVS front office any doctor's notes for appointments or illness. Each student has 10 "parent convenience" days that are considered excused with no note. Any absences beyond those 10 days without a medical or legal note will be marked unexcused.
Tempted to Use AI or the Internet to Plagiarize?
If a teacher wants your student to use AI to help with an assignment or writing, then he or she will let them know that when the assignment is made. Unless a teacher gives students permission to use AI for a specific assignment, students are not to use Artificial Intelligence sites or apps to help with MVS assignments. Work that is generated with the use of AI will be treated like plagiarism and will be graded as such. If this occurs, teachers may give students the option to come into MVS to rewrite an essay with paper and pencil or monitored technology.
