🎨 Artist in Residence: Thanks to the generous and creative support of our PTA, South Grove continues to blossom—both figuratively and literally! Last year’s Artist in Residence project transformed our courtyard into a beautiful outdoor space featuring panels with the lyrics to our school song. This year’s project? A stunning mural filled with beloved literary characters—each one voted in by our school community. Be sure to check it out next time you walk between the annex and main buildings!

🕰️ Historical Society: Some of our clubs are highly visible—like our wonderful Drama Club—while others leave a quieter, yet equally meaningful, mark on our school culture. This month, I’d like to shine a spotlight on our Historical Society, open to 2nd and 3rd graders. This thoughtful group works to preserve and share South Grove’s history by creating scrapbooks and time capsules for future generations. Their latest challenge? Encouraging students to guess why South Grove is called "South Grove"! Curious? Visit their booth in the main lobby, next to the art display case, to learn more.

SAFETY REMINDERS:

• 🚗 Arrivals: A gentle reminder to follow our morning arrival procedures. Please do not drop off students before their designated time. We have limited supervision before 9:05 AM, and following the schedule helps us keep all students safe.
• 🏁 Dismissal: If your child’s dismissal plans change, please update PickUp Patrol no later than 2:30PM. We begin organizing dismissal lists well in advance, and changes by phone should be reserved for emergencies only. Last-minute changes increase the chance of confusion at the end of the day.
• 🚫 Parking Lot: As shared in my welcome memo, no parent vehicles are allowed in the school parking lot between 3:00–3:30 PM. This is an active dismissal window, and we need to keep the area clear for bus arrivals and student pick-up at walker doors.
• 🏫 Campus Safety: A reminder that no individuals—former students or adults—should be on campus, including the playground, during the school day without prior authorization. Thank you for helping us keep our school safe and secure.
  
  

💬 Code of Conduct: With the warmer weather, students are spending more time outdoors—and we’ve noticed a slight uptick in behavior referrals. Please take a few moments to review the school’s Code of Conduct with your child, and help reinforce the values of KPRIDE. At school, we continue to teach SEL and DASA lessons to support students’ physical and emotional well-being.

💡 Spotlight on Student Service: Have you ever wondered how our district highlights student-led community service in the superintendent’s updates? It starts with you! If your child is involved in service projects outside of school, please let your child’s teacher—or me—know. Whether it’s shared publicly or celebrated privately, we want to acknowledge the good work our students are doing in the world.
