Solar Eclipse- April 8th
An exciting event will take place on April 8th, 2024- a solar eclipse! There will be no school on April 8th. Students will be provided with a pair of solar eclipse glasses for viewing and safety during this event! End of Course Exams
As part of graduation requirements for the State of Ohio, students are required to take End of Course exams in English 10, Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, American History, and American Government.
Please see below for Steele's End of Course exams schedule. Any student who took English 10, Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, American History, or American Government this school year will be taking an End of Course exam for that course. All students not testing will follow a late arrival Schedule. Click the button below to view exam dates and bell schedules, including AP exams.
SAT Day: April 10th
On April 10th, all Juniors will be taking the SAT during school. There will be no school that day for grades 9, 10 and 12.
Juniors will need to report to the High School and be in their assigned testing room by 7:45am. Students will receive information about their assigned testing room the Monday before the exam. All students will need to bring their chromebooks with them charged, as well as their charger. JVS students coming to test will have a computer at the high school to test on. The test will last until approximately 11:30am. If you have any questions regarding SAT testing, please contact your school counselor.

Class of 2024
The Marion L. Steele High School Class of 2024 plans to hold its Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 25th at Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center. Doors will open at 9:00 am and the ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 am.

Yearbook Information
Yearbooks are still on sale. You can order by going to Jostens.com, searching Marion L. Steele High School, and that will take you to a page for everything Jostens at Steele. Don't forget to check out the personalization and icon upgrades!
Senior Recognition Ads that go in the back of the yearbook are still on sale until March 22nd. Go to Jostens.com, then you design and buy your senior recognition ads online and they appear in our yearbook a couple weeks later. Feel free to confirm with Mr. Rubinski that your ad made it in the yearbook by emailing him with any questions you have about yearbook information.
2025 Trip to Argentina!
The Paris of South America, gauchos-the original cowboys, dulce de leche-that creamy caramel ribbonned ice cream, horseback riding through a true cattle ranch, cross the widest street in the world, learn to tango....You CAN see and do all of this and much more if you join us on the 2025 trip to Argentina!
All students who are matriculated at Steele High School are able to enroll in this amazing trip. There are a few spaces left to enroll. Heads up: the price will increase March 27, 2024. A $50 deposit locks you into the current price!
This trip will occur during spring break. We will depart March 27, 2025 and return April 3, 2025.

The Amherst Schools Educational Foundation (ASEF) and the Amherst community proudly present our students with 60 scholarships exclusive to our MLS seniors! Students have the opportunity to apply for these scholarships over the next month, all scholarship submissions have a deadline of March 20th at 2:30 pm.

College Credit Plus
Next week, Karen Tomcko from LCCC will be administering CCP placement tests for any student requiring testing. Sign-up sheets for testing are in the school counseling office. Students will be responsible for any missed schoolwork. Please see your school counselor if you have any questions.

Department News: Science Department
Mrs. McNeal
Honors biology is studying the reactions of photosynthesis and cellular respiration and how they are interrelated. They are also analyzing the impacts of using cellular respiration to make energy while exercising.
Biology students are demonstrating stages of cell division using cookies. The stages will then lead to their understanding of inheriting genetic information from parents.
Mr. Glatz
Students in Mr. Glatz's Biology class are learning about Protein Synthesis and Earth and Environment students are learning about Earthquakes. Special thanks to Mrs. Sears for lending us these awesome shake tables!
Comet Athletic Department
Winter Sports Update
Congratulations to our winter sports athletes on your tremendous seasons! This winter brought many team and individual accomplishments.
Game Day Competition Cheerleaders won the 2024 OASSA Division 2 Non Building Game Day State Championship back on March 3rd. The competition was held at Big Walnut High School. This is our Cheer program's second State Championship in the last three years!
Boys Bowling qualified for their 2nd Straight OHSAA Division I state tournament. They competed on March 8th at HP Lanes in Columbus. They finished 16th overall.
Girls Bowling qualified for the OHSAA Division I State Tournament. They competed on March 9th at HP Lanes in Columbus. They finished ninth overall. They were led by senior, Sabrina Stawicki, who finished seventh overall and earned second team All-Ohio honors.
Hockey Head Coach Steve Morris received the OHSAA Sportsmanship, Ethics, & Integrity Award at the OHSAA Hockey Final Four on March 8th. This honor was recommended to the OHSAA from the Ohio Hockey Coaches Association.
Spring Sports Season is Underway
