Principal Note
Dear Parents,
Welcome back from fall break! It was wonderful to see your students back in the building, and we’re excited to celebrate Halloween next Thursday. Students are welcome to wear costumes to school on October 31 (school uniforms are not required that day). Please ensure that costumes are appropriate for school by following the guidelines below:
- Costumes should not include:
- Masks covering more than half the face (no full-face masks)
- Weapon facsimiles
- Blood, gore, or anything sexually explicit, graphically violent, or referencing drugs or alcohol
- Costume requirements (aligned with our Spirit Day guidelines):
- Tops: No halter tops, bare midriffs, or see-through apparel. Dresses and tops must have sleeves and backs.
- Bottoms: Dresses, skirts, or shorts must be fingertip length or longer. If wearing tights, leggings, or hosiery, the top or dress must also meet fingertip length. All pants, jeans, and slacks must be worn at the waist with no visible undergarments.
If a costume does not meet these guidelines, parents will need to bring a change of clothes for their child.
For Grades K-5:
We will have a fun costume parade starting at 2:15 PM. Parents are invited to line up on the south side of the school or on the field to watch. To help keep the hallways clear, we kindly ask that parents do not gather inside the building. If you're joining for a class party beforehand, please remember to step outside to watch the parade. If you’re only coming for the parade and staying outside, there’s no need to check in at the front office.
For Grades 6-8:
The student council, the Cougar Committee, has planned a Halloween dance for the middle school students for 2:45-3:25pm. Parents are welcome to attend, but since it’s inside the building, you will need to check in at the front office.
We’re looking forward to a fun and festive Halloween with our students!
Warmly,
Bethany Merkling
Principal
