Academic Highlights
Math National Honor Society: NWR mdde top 40 in the region for the 5th year in a row AND moved up this year to number 26. They outmatched local schools such as Mahwah and Randolph by healthy margins. We will be celebrating this victory at the induction ceremony which been moved to May 22.
Spanish Honor Society will be hosting an 8th grade Spanish Spelling Bee on May 4.
The World lang Dept and Spanish Honor Society held the National Spanish Exam on March 28. Over 100 spanish students participated in the national contest.
Upcoming Events
Friends of Rachel will continue to have on Wednesday Nights To Fundrasie for Happiness in Camping. Cost $5.00 6:30-7:30 Multipurpose room. Dates incluce 4/30,5/2, 5/9 and 5/16.
Cheerleading tryout practices: Come out and show your Patriot Pride! Tryout practices for the 2018-2019 season will be on May 29th, 30th and 31st from 2:30-4:00pm. Athletes should come dressed to practice with a water bottle. Tryouts will be held at 2:30pm in the high school gym. Athletes should come ready to perform! Official tryout date is scheduled for June 4, 2018 at 2:30pm in the high school gym.
The 6th annual NW Multicultural Fair will be held on May 30, 9am - 2 pm at North Warren. Students, staff, parents and community members are invited to host an informational table or provide a demonstration highlighting the various cultures that represent our community members' heritage. Some previous examples include traditional dress or costumes, photos, musical instruments, historical facts, coin collections, caligraphy instruction, martial arts presentations, food demonstrations, and tradiaitonal dance. Registration forms are available on the website. All are welcome to enjoy this free event.
Middle School Activities Spring Dance will be held on Friday, May 4 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The cost is $7 during lunch the week of April 30 - May 4. This is the last Middle School dance of the year.
The 8th Grade Dinner Dance will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018. The dress code has been posted on NWR's website.
WEAR YOUR SCHOOL: All Seniors are encouraged to wear an item of clothing that represents the college/university/military branch/tech school they are attending in the fall. Staff is encouraged to wear their or their child's alma mater.
School-wide Art Show grades 7-12 artwork displayed from 6:30-8:30 in the large gym. 5/22
Raku firing taking place in the back staff parking lot during school hours. Stop by and check out the activity! Raku is a traditional Japanese firing technique for ceremonial pottery. The pot is removed from a hot kiln and placed in to combustibles. Oxygen is then reduced to allow for an unpredictable array of metallic colors on the pot's surface. Very cool and a rare opportunity to witness!
The middle school musical, "Shrek, Jr." is set for May 31 and June 1.
Junior State of America will be attending Spring State on April 21-22. Students will participate in a variety of formal and informal debates. They will also be voting for next year's regional officers, participating in both a primary and general election.
