Hi all,
Due to the home football game on Thursday night, practice tomorrow 10/19 will be on the grass field from 4:30-6pm. It will be the grass where freshman football practices, near the softball fields NOT the baseball field. They are reseeding it for the upcoming Varsity baseball season, so please do not go to the baseball field.
Helix Tournament schedule has been changed for Varsity. They have gotten rid of the #5 vs #6 game to save time, but also extended the amount of time each game lasts, thereby extending the length of the tournament. Previously, it was 30 mins only. NOW, it is 20 min halves with a 2 min halftime.
Here is your new schedule (full photo schedule down below):
Saturday, October 21st (Varsity Only):
- 8:00am: Game vs University City @ Football Field. Be ready to warm up at 7:15am. We are the home team.
- 10:15am: Game vs Fountain Valley @ Football Field. Be ready to warm up at 9:45am. We are the away team.
- 1:15-1:45pm - Skills Challenge
- 1:45pm: Game vs Eastlake @ Football Field. Be ready to warm up at 1:25pm. We are the home team. (last game of day if we are not ranked in top 4 teams)
- If Ranked 1st or 4th, 4:45pm: Game vs TBD (Semis)@Football Field. Be ready to warm up at 4:15pm.
- If Ranked 2nd or 3rd, 5:30pm: Game vs TBD (Semis)@Football Field. Be ready to warm up at 4:50pm.
- If Loss in Semis, 6:15pm: Game vs TBD (Third Place Game) @Football Field.
- If Win in Semis, 7:00pm: Game vs TBD (First Place Game) @Football Field.
During the JV tournament, they elected to skip the consolation game (loser semi 1 loser semi 2) in order to keep things moving for time. That may also be a possibility here.
Reminder of the Helix rules:
★ 2 points for a win - 1 point for a tie - 0 points for a loss - 1 pt per goal (up to 3)
★ Teams can earn up to 15 pts max during pool play
In the case of a tie, here's how rankings will be decided:
Ranking:
1. Total Points
2. Head to head
3. Goal differential (up to +/-3 per game)
4. Goals for (maximum 3 points per game)
5. Regular set 1v1
6. Sudden victory 1v1
