Students need as much opportunity as possible to go outside for lunch hour play. This is a vital part of the school day. It is a time for students to burn off some of that “energy” they have stored all morning, get some exercise, and simply socialize with their peers. When the weather is appropriate for outdoor days, students must have appropriate winter clothing. This means heavier jackets, boots, hats and gloves. We will continue to go outside daily during lunch time when the weather conditions permit us to do so. Families should ensure that their children are dressed for the elements prior to sending them to school each morning so they can take advantage of outdoor play opportunities.
Generations of brave Canadians have served in uniform to help defend peace and freedom. Our military personnel perform many important duties here at home. They have also deployed to dozens of countries to take part in wars, conflicts, peacekeeping missions, humanitarian operations and other military efforts.
2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). Veterans’ Week and Remembrance Day are special times to honour those who have served our country over the years.
On Friday, November 8th students and staff are asked to wear red to school to honor our veterans. Our assembly will take place in the school gymnasium at 9:00 a.m. Families attending the assembly are asked to use the gymnasium entrance.
Sacred Heart Academy’s Peer Helpers are asking the students, staff and the larger community to help fill Sammy’s Closet with new mitts, to help our friends at SHA stay warm this winter. Sammy’s Closet will be accepting donations of new mitts at the school until December 20th. Warm a child's hands and warm your heart this holiday season!
