Together We Thrive: A Message from Ms. Perez
As we continue our journey through this academic year, I want to take a moment to highlight the incredible student participation of our Matadors in extracurricular, co-curricular, and club activities. These programs are more than just an extension of the classroom; they play a pivotal role in the holistic development of our students. As our students engage in extracurricular, co-curricular, club activities—be it sports, crafts, or the arts—they provide our students with opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, build lifelong friendships, and stay connected to our campus.
These experiences foster teamwork, leadership, and resilience, qualities that are essential not just in school, but in life beyond our campus. Whether it’s scoring the winning soccer goal on the field or collaborating on a Matador Theatre play, each moment spent in these activities contributes to a well-rounded education.
Extracurricular, co-curricular, and club activities compliment our academic curriculum and also enhance our Matadors' learning. These experiences encourage students to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world contexts, promoting critical thinking and creativity. Involvement in these activities also contributes a sense of belonging and a strong Matador spirit. As our students collaborate, problem solve, and celebrate achievements together, they create memories that last long after graduation- a lifetime.
We encourage all of our students to explore the various extracurricular, co-curricular, and club opportunities available at Seguin High School. Whether your student is an aspiring artist, passionate about sports, or enjoys learning about landscaping and campus beautification, there is a place for them at Seguin High School to shine. Thank you for your continued support in enriching our students' educational experiences
Matadors, your future is now. Let your greatness shine and remember, it's a great day to be a Matador!
Sincerely,
Christine Perez
Seguin High School Principal

Weekly Update: Tardy Sweeps and Importance of Punctuality
We wanted to share a quick update on our efforts to reinforce the importance of punctuality at school. This week, we successfully conducted a tardy sweep each day and are pleased with the positive impact these have had on encouraging students to arrive on time for all classes. Arriving promptly to class not only supports their own learning but also helps maintain a productive and respectful environment for all students.
Looking ahead, please be aware that there will be an announced tardy sweep during first period each day. In addition, we will be conducting 1-2 unannounced tardy sweeps at various points later in the day. These measures are designed to encourage punctuality and ensure that all students are engaged in their learning from the very start of each class.
Thank you for partnering with us in this important effort. Together, we can help our students develop strong habits that will benefit them both in school and beyond.

Character Strong Focus
Stress and Coping
The goal is to discuss what we can control versus what we cannot control during stressful times (and what it means to manage that stress).
What is Character Strong?
This curriculum was created to support school communities as they engage in the work of preparing young people to thrive in the 21st century. The research supports the effectiveness of this content to increase student’s academic success and college & career readiness. The lessons focus on developing skills and mindsets around building positive habits, understanding our emotions, improving teamwork, and increasing empathy.
Attention Dual Credit Students!
Dual Credit Courses Start January 21st.
Here are some important tips to help you excel:
All Dual Credit students should read their professor's syllabus because it serves as a roadmap for their success in the course. Here are the key reasons:
Understanding Course Expectations: The syllabus outlines the professor's expectations, including required assignments, attendance policies, grading criteria, and participation standards.
Awareness of Deadlines: It provides a clear schedule of assignment due dates, tests, and project deadlines, helping students stay organized and manage their time effectively.
Access to Resources: Many syllabi include information about additional resources, such as office hours, tutoring services, or supplemental materials, which can help students succeed.
Familiarity with Policies: The syllabus often details critical policies regarding late work, academic honesty, and communication protocols, ensuring students avoid misunderstandings.
Course Objectives and Goals: It outlines what students are expected to learn by the end of the course, helping them align their efforts with the learning outcomes.
Professor's Contact Information: The syllabus typically includes the professor's email, office hours, and preferred communication methods, making it easier for students to reach out with questions or concerns.
Preparation for College Standards: Reading and following a syllabus mirrors the experience students will have in future college courses, helping them develop independence and accountability.
Encouraging Dual Credit students to review their syllabi thoroughly ensures they are proactive, well-prepared, and set up for academic success.
