Monday Memo
Hello, Cougars! We hope you enjoyed your long weekend. Labor Day is a time to celebrate your hard work by spending time with family and friends, having a dip in the pool before the weather changes, or having a day full of rest.
For 108 years, Jarrell ISD has been educating students. Along the way, we've developed many traditions that define our community spirit. Whether it's Friday Night Lights, the annual Homecoming parade, or the school song, our district is rich with history and Cougar pride.
In the fall, we have our Homecoming parade, where part of the city shuts down as families line the streets to celebrate our students, school organizations, and athletics. The parade ends at Jarrell High School. That's when the community gathers on the football field to see the burning of the JC. It's a decades old tradition that is a terrific time of unity and fun. At our homecoming game, we celebrate football teams of years past while crowning a new homecoming king and queen and rooting on the Cougar football team. And, of course, there's the annual Homecoming dance.
Driving through our district, you'll see homes proudly displaying the Cougar yard sign or spirit flag. Both represent the community's support for our district. But more importantly, it celebrates people's pride in Jarrell ISD. The district provides free yard signs or Jarrell ISD flags for you to hang out outside your home. To request a flag or yard sign, email communications@jarrellisd.org.
Finally, our school song honors the strength, resilience, and heart we have for our district. You can download the lyrics and music at www.jarrellisd.org/schoolsong. We are one community, and as the school song says, "For blue and white forever we will shine." and "We'll fight for all that stands for Truth and Right." We are strongest when we work together and support each other, which is why these traditions have lasted so long.
The school district is the hub of the community. It's the only place that brings us all together as one. So join us in celebrating Jarrell ISD traditions and all that's wonderful about our community. Have a great week, and Go Cougars.
