SCDE Title III Best Practice Seminar
Practical Strategies for Using Technology to Support Academic Achievement for ELLs
One approach to improving student achievement is to use technology to engage, support and challenge diverse learners. There purpose of this workshop is to provide educators and administrators with practical strategies for using existing technologies in ways that enhance.
Emphasis will be placed on strategies for gaining access to text-based information in grades 4-12, the role of student choice in fostering engagement, and locating interactive learning resources that offer an alternative to paper and pencil activities. Strategies will support a continuum of technology infrastructures.

Dr. Dave Edyburn - University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee
Dave Edyburn teaches in the areas of mild disabilities related to learning and behavior. His research investigates the use of technology to enhance teaching, learning and performance. He has authored over 150 articles and book chapters on the use of technology in special education. His work spans the 36-page booklet, “What Every Teacher Should Know About Assistive Technology” to the 900-page “Handbook of Special Education Technology Research and Practice”.
Edyburn is Co-Principal Investigator of the Universal Design Infusion of Technology and Evaluation for Accessible Campuses of Higher Education (UDITEACH) Project, a federally-funded model demonstration project that seeks to infuse universal design across college campuses.
He is also President-elect of the Special Education Technology special interest group (SIG) of the International Society for Technology in Education and a Past President of the Technology and Media (TAM) Division of the Council for Exceptional Children. Edyburn received an M.S. from Illinois State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
