Week of May 13 - 17, 2024
B Week
Greetings, White Marsh Families!
Thank you, families and PTA, for showering our teachers with love last week. Each day was a different theme of goodies, and our teachers loved each one! Thanks, too for the handwritten notes and messages to our teachers. All of your kind words meant so much to our teachers!
State testing continues this week. Grades 3, 4 and 5 will each be taking the Math assessment at some point during the week. Please make sure students are well rested and come to school with a charged laptop. Also continuing this week is the SchoolKidz online supplies sale. The information and link is below.
SMCPS is now registering for next year's Kindergarten! There is a link and more information below.
This week is another busy one at White Marsh. Tuesday is Primary Election Day. There is no school for students on Tuesday.
Wednesday evening is the PTA Family Fun Night, beginning at 5 pm. Come join us for popsicles and a book swap! We will also have food trucks here from both Pizza Hotline and Salted Scoop. See the flier below.
DJ Pink will return on Thursday for the School Dance! This is a fundraiser that will benefit MTSS and beautifying the school grounds. Permission slips went home in Wednesday folders on May 8, 2024.
Friday is Dress for Success Day! Students are encouraged to dress nicely on Friday.
Have a great week!
Principal Steele

Chronic Absenteeism
Chronic Absenteeism: Students are chronically absent when absent 10% or more of the school days while enrolled at that school. For example, a student who is registered to attend a school for 30 days and who is absent 3 of those 30 days is considered chronically absent.
WMES will follow up with chronically absent students through the Pupil Services Team, Pupil Personnel Worker, and the Department of Student Services. In order to reduce the number of our students with Chronic Absenteeism, incentives to encourage good attendance include participation in the Bear Crawl, Running Club, and School Dance.
Text Alerts
SMCPS Text Alerts are a great way to get information quickly. They are not sent often, and usually only in the event of an unexpected school delay or closure. On occasion, WMES will send a text alert about a late bus, substitute bus, or school event. Click the link for information about registering for text alerts.
