Counselor’s Message
The Importance of Mental Health in Teens
Mental health is just as important as physical health, especially during the teenage years, when students face academic, social, and emotional pressures. It’s essential for parents to recognize signs of stress and anxiety in their teens, which may include changes in mood, irritability, trouble sleeping, lack of concentration, or withdrawal from friends and activities. Early recognition allows for timely support. Encourage your teen to talk openly about their feelings and remind them it’s okay to ask for help when needed.
Promoting mental wellness at home can make a significant impact. Help your teen develop healthy habits, such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, proper sleep, and relaxation techniques like mindfulness or deep breathing. Also, encourage activities that bring joy and relieve stress, like hobbies or time with friends. By fostering a supportive environment, we can help our teens build resilience and maintain a balanced and positive mindset for their overall well-being.
Topic of the Month: SELF-DIRECT
This month, we’re focusing on self-direction, an essential skill for teens. Encourage your child to practice self-management by learning to control their emotions, especially anger. Support them in developing self-care routines to manage stress and maintain balance. Help them understand the importance of thoughtful decision-making by considering both short- and long-term consequences. Lastly, remind them of the value of living an ethical life by making choices that align with their values and respect for others. These skills foster independence and a strong sense of responsibility, preparing them for success in life.

University Fieldtrips Fundraiser
It’s that time again! We are excited to start planning for our grade-level university trips. We understand the importance of exposing our students to different universities throughout their high school years, and we take pride in ensuring they visit a new campus each year.
However, we can’t do this without your support. Our fundraiser plays a crucial role in making sure all students have the opportunity to participate in these trips.
Students will soon receive a permission slip, which they must return in order to receive their 30 bags of popcorn to sell. Each bag will sell for $3.00, and we are aiming to make this fundraiser a huge success.
Thank you for your continued support!
