Oak Grove Celebrates the Fine Arts
The Oak Grove students and faculty participated in a series of fantastic fine arts presentations last Thursday morning. Students were able to witness, and in some instances, participate in a wonderful variety of sessions.
We thank all of the outside "artists" who gave up their days to share their extraordinary talents with the Oak Grove students. We know you have inspired our students to explore the fine arts and, hopefully find their creative talents they did not know they possess!
Thank you to the Fine Arts planning team, maintenance staff, front office ladies, and tech team for all that you did to make this year's Fine Arts Day the best ever!

SEL News
The goal for our new unit is to develop students' ability to Solve Problems ON THEIR OWN! We will review our calming down steps because in order to think clearly we must calm down and manage our emotions. Kindergarten through fifth grade will focus on the specific problem solving steps. You can use these with your junior high students too!
- S: Say the problem - Say the problem in a neutral, non-blaming way. The trick is saying what you want or need.
- T: Think of solutions - Make sure solutions are both safe and respectful.
- E: Explore consequences - Look at both positive and negative consequences of carrying out a solution.
- P: Pick the best solution - Find solutions that best meet prosocial goals.
Please encourage your child to practice these steps. Send me a note via DOJO when you see your child practicing these steps. I like to acknowledge them in the classroom and celebrate their good choices and efforts.

Hello Oak Grove Community,
As part of our Talented And Gifted (TAG) placement procedures, we will be holding our spring session of Advisory Council. During the spring Advisory Council meeting, the committee will review placement appeals. Parents have the right to request an additional review of student placement into Oak Grove’s TAG program through a placement appeal that would be reviewed by the Advisory Council. This process is discussed on pages 13 and 14 of the TAG Handbook.
In addition, please see the TAG Handbook for the matrix used to make placement decisions (p. 10) as well as the placement flow chart (p. 13) for additional information.
Parents requesting participation in the appeal process are required to complete the Parent Inquiry Form beginning on page 22 of the TAG Handbook. The Parent Inquiry Form must be completed and emailed to Sarah Cacciatore at cacciatore@ogschool.org no later than May 12th for consideration at the spring Advisory Council meeting. Parents will be notified via email regarding the final committee decisions.
*Please note, appeal process may only be utilized once a calendar year.
"Make Your Own Music Video" Summer Camp
We are currently accepting registration for our technology/music summer camp, called "Make Your Own Music Video". The camp runs from June 5th through June 9th, from 8:30 am - 11:30 am. The cost is $50 per student and can be paid on our website through RevTrak.
During this week long camp, students will learn how to create a music video, a storyboard, basic video/audio recording and editing, and green screen techniques and multi-cam editing.
We'd love to hear from students interested in this camp, so please fill out this short 'Class Interest Survey' so we can begin gathering materials.
