- The Wayne High School Class of 2024 Top 10 was first recognized at a reception at 5 p.m., then officially during our School Spotlight at the Board meeting. Many thanks to our Communications Specialist for the creation of the video highlighting our seniors and their accomplishments.
- Retiring HHCS staff were honored by the Board for their service and career highlights during a special presentation led by Director of Human Resources Adam Reed. Retirees were given a plaque recognizing their retirement, a HHCS blanket, and a lifetime athletic pass as tokens of appreciation.
- Mr. Scott Jacobs was approved as the new Assistant Principal at Weisenborn Junior High, replacing Steven Mills, who is the new Principal at Monticello Elementary. Mr. Jacobs comes to HHCS from Northmont City Schools, where he has served as both a classroom teacher, coach, and teacher on special assignment assisting with administrative responsibilities.
- The Board approved granting diplomas to the senior class, pending completion of all requirements from the State of Ohio and Board Policy. The Wayne High School Commencement Ceremony is Sunday, May 26, at 2 p.m. at the Wright State University Nutter Center.
- The May Five-Year Forecast was presented and approved by the Board of Education. The forecast is required to be submitted to ODEW twice a year, in May and November, and is a snapshot in time of the district’s financial picture. As a result, it is used as a planning tool for both short- and long-term decisions to maintain focus on fiscal responsibility.
- The Board approved a schedule change impacting the June 27 Board Work Session. Due to fiscal year-end requirements, June 27 will now be a business meeting so that Board action can be taken.
Superintendent Update
- Mr. Enix reviewed the HHCS Redistricting Project timeline of events, with an emphasis on the upcoming Public Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting on May 20. This first PAC meeting will focus on project objectives and collaborative discussion on priorities and will guide the summer work of the Internal Planning Team to begin creating potential options for consideration. He also provided an overview of the now active website dedicated to this project, including the timeline, map features, school zones, planning blocks and how they are used in the mapping process, and the community feedback form. Visit the HHCS Redistricting website.
