GSRP Newsletter
Weekly updates for our young learners!
Three Weeks Down!
Wow - Time flies when you're having fun! We have now had three weeks of GSRP, and every day I come in more excited to see what the students will discover. This week, we learned about more tools in our Discovery Area, practiced putting caps on markers, used our manners, read stories about apple seeds... and more! As we get further settled in, I have loved seeing the students talking to each other more and invite one another to play. They are getting comfortable, and are even more prepared for learning!
Next week, we will be reading about and exploring pumpkins! They are a great tool for science experiments. Additionally, we will be working on some fine-motor activities - These are activities to help students use their hands! Tracing, writing, using scissors, and manipulating things like play dough or tweezers are all great fine-motor activities to help students strengthen their hand muscles. I recommend doing any of these at home too!
Reminder: If I have not gotten a Health Appraisal / Physical form for your student, those are due by October 30th at the latest. If I do not have an updated Health Appraisal by that date, your student may not return to school until it is completed. Please let me know if you need assistance!
Please, please feel free to reach out at any time if you have questions or concerns. I will always try to respond within 24 business hours. We are so thankful you are here, and we have an incredibly exciting year ahead of us!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Phillips 😄
Notice - Weather ⛄
It is getting cold outside! We go outside two times each day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Especially in the morning, we are starting to see our breath! Please send students in with clothes for the weather, including a coat, hat, and gloves. We will always go outside unless it feels like 25 degrees or less.
Additionally, since it's getting cold, we have some runny noses! If you would like to donate tissues or wipes to class to help us all stay clean and healthy, the whole class will be incredibly thankful!

October 31st - Halloween
Woodland Park Academy has a Halloween parade planned for students on Thursday, October 31st. GSRP classrooms are not permitted to participate in holiday-themed activities, so our students may not wear costumes. However, we will still be involved in the school event, and will be making something at school that can be used for the parade. You are also definitely welcome to have students wear Halloween-themed clothing if you choose! If you have any questions about holidays or events, please reach out to Mrs. Phillips or consult the GISD Holiday-Birthday Letter linked below.
