November Library Update
November 20th, 2024
National Native American Heritage Month
This month, the library celebrates the resilience of Indigenous cultures across the Americas. Inspired by their research and picture books from the library collection, the 7th grade wrote, illustrated, and bound their own picture book folktales, which they shared at an exhibition last week. Their posters, showcasing their chosen nations or tribes, are now on display in the library.
In December, author Lisa Springfellow will speak to the 7th grade about her contemporary novels Comb of Wishes and Kingdom of Dust, which are inspired by Caribbean and African folktales. The following week, author, storyteller, and educator Larry Spotted Crow Mann will address both our Middle and Upper School students, focusing on Indigenous resilience through storytelling.
