All Souls Catholic School
Newsletter - February 4th, 2016
Prayer
Almighty Father,
You sent forth your Son as a beacon of hope for all people.
As Teacher, he has given us the prime example of the importance of education.
As disciples, we look to him for inspiration and strength.
Thank you for the many sisters, brothers, priests, and laypeople who have dedicated their lives in service to our Catholic schools.
Thank you for the teachers and administrators who sustain our schools today.
Thank you for the parents who have given support and witness to the importance of Catholic education in their daily lives.
Thank you for the students who work hard to further their education.
Bless All Souls Catholic School and the many people who advance our mission.
May our building be a home for those who seek to grow in faith, knowledge, and service of others.
May our community always support one another and exhibit hospitality to newcomers.
Fill our minds with knowledge and wisdom.
May our understanding of the world help us to grow in appreciation for it.
Fill our hearts with gladness.
May we always turn to you in times of need.
Fill our hands with the tools we need to serve others.
May we show them your unceasing love through our actions.
From The Principal
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we celebrate Catholic Schools Week we are blessed at All Souls to have a wonderful staff who are supportive of the Catholic ethos and are so supportive of the children we serve. I wish to thank all the families who send their children to All Souls for the sacrifices they make so that their children will receive an excellent Catholic education. God Bless.
I wish to thank all those parents who have expressed sentiments for my mum and my family at this time. She had a massive heart attack followed by two strokes. By the time you read this I should be landing in Australia to spend time with her. It has been difficult for her as she has been an active person for close to 90 years. It is difficult for her to be bedridden at the moment, and with the assistance of doctors we hope she will regain movement with her right leg and arm.
Ash Wednesday
We will be celebrating Ash Wednesday on Wednesday, February 10th with Mass at 9am. (Full School Uniform)
On that day the cafeteria will not be serving meat as part of the menu. During Lent the students from grades 3 to 8 will pray the Stations of the Cross each Monday afternoon. Classes will attend a daily 8am Mass, and we ask that those students meet their teacher in the Church at 7.55am. We would encourage families to join in at Mass on those days. Please see the Lenten Schedule included with this newsletter.

Enrollment 2016-17
We are in the midst of enrollment for next school year, and we do need your assistance if you are not returning. Please let Mrs. Cierra know now so that we can offer any available places to those families on the wait list. In those classes that are over 35, if students leave we will be keeping the class size at 35. There are times when we do have to go over due to sibling enrollment; we do not want to split families up. Our school budget is enrollment driven. If we do not have high enrollment, then services will have to be cut back. As you know we have many services that many other schools do not provide.
I am happy to announce that we will be splitting math classes in grades 7 and 8 next year. We will have an additional teacher in the junior high, so we are in a position to split some classes.
Re-enrollment will begin March 1st and will conclude by March 15th. After March 15th, if families have not re-enrolled, those places will be given to students on the wait list. Therefore please complete the re-enrollment process as soon as it opens. We will be re-enrolling with our new school Information system, School Speak. You will notice some changes with the re-enrollment process especially when it comes to completing the activities for participation. There will be automatic cut offs for the various activities. So if there is an activity you wish to do, it is nest to sign up as soon as possible.
God Bless,
Vincent Riener
