Tuesday the team will go to Downingtown East and the remainder of the week will travel to Pottstown and Owen J Roberts.
Baseball
Cheltenham High School postponed our non-league game at their place on Monday, 4/8 due to concerns with the timing of the solar eclipse. A new date for this contest has yet to be determined. We were also rained out this past Friday, 4/12 at Owen J. Roberts and will make that game up during a very busy week this week on Tuesday, 4/16.
On Tuesday, 4/9 Methacton traveled to Pope John Paul II in a big conference cross-over matchup. In a very tight game for all seven innings, the Warriors defeated PJP 2-1 to improve to 5-0 on the season. Evan Jones earned the victory on the mound and Austin Frank earned the save with three innings of shutout ball in relief. Chase McNally had an RBI single after a Ben Clark double, scoring pinch runner Anthony Daddazio. Ayden Fitch had a hit and a run scored on Tripp Shytle’s game winning RBI single.
On Thursday, 4/11/24 Methacton played a much anticipated home game vs. Perkiomen Valley. The two teams historically play each other very close and this game did not disappoint. After the Vikings jumped out to a 4-1 lead the Warriors fought back to tie the game at 4-4. The game stayed tied after eight innings of play and was called due to darkness. The game will start up in the ninth inning at a later date.
This week:

Boys Track & Field
The Methacton Boys Track team had an eventful and successful week. In total, members of the team traveled to 4 different meets across the Greater Philadelphia region.
On Wednesday, Methacton traveled to Boyertown for their third meet of the season. The team won comfortably 80-66, resting some key members once the win was secured. Wesley Conover swept the 100 and 200 meter dash for the third time this season. Raymond Tai & Dylan Weber also qualified for PACs in the 100m dash. Matt Decker won the 110 meter hurdles with a big PR to qualify for PACs. Hezekiah Wright Jones and Wes Conover qualified in the long and triple jumps, while Shane Corne qualified in the Shot Put and Javelin. Trevor Gates also won the pole vault for the second time this season.
The next day, the freshman 4x100m relay of Jackson Lecky, Aiden Han, Gilbert Yang and Liam Goldich ran a time of 47.31 for an 11th place finish at the freshman/middle school Penn Relay qualifier.
On Friday, the warriors traveled to Haverford for the first of two competitive weekend invitationals. The meet was centered on some competitive distance races including a girl's 800 meter run that gathered some of the fastest runners in the nation. In the boy's 800m Nathan Alex qualified for the PAC championships with a time of 2:08.11. Next up was the boy's 1600 where Matthew Sandner and Mitch Alexander placed 6th and 9th in the race, bettering their season bests from last week. Charlie Reith & Curtis Alexander also qualified for PACS in that race. Closing out the night was the 3200m. In his first career competitive 3200 race, Freshman Brock Yoder stormed out to an early lead to run the 6th fastest time in school history and earn a comfortable win. Not far behind him were teammates Colin O'Donnell, Akhil Yeluri, Jason Nagle & Tyler Rifkin. All 5 warrior distance runners finished in the top 7 places and qualified for PAC's in the process. Brandon Lee also ran to a PR in the 200m dash.
The next day the warriors had a shorter commute with different team members to Perkiomen Valley's Ron Liver's Invite. The young team had a slew of PR's and PAC qualifiers, but most importantly gained valuable meet experience. Nico Lumbrano led the way with a 3rd place finish in the discus, throwing a season's best of 130 feet. He narrowly missed his PR and the district mark in the process. Benjamin Freese earned a 5th place finish with a PAC qualifying 1600m run in windy conditions. Also bringing home hardware were the 4x1 of Dylan Weber, Ray Tai, Avery Smith and Wes Conover, as well as Tryston Majewski in the novice Javelin. Shane Corne, Abel Robles & Bedirhan Sade were all impressive in the throws and Jeremiah Villanueva was also impressive in his first career 200m dash.
The Warriors are pleased with the results from the eventful week and are optimistic for the future. The team is looking forward to a great week of training and their meet against Spring Ford on Wednesday. The already large group of PAC qualifiers should continue to grow in the coming weeks, along with some additional district qualifiers as well.
