The 929-November 20, 2024
Happy Wednesday Edgewood Community,
It’s hard to believe we’re already at the Thanksgiving Break edition of the 929! Time is flying in such an amazing way, and we’re so grateful for the many wonderful moments we’ve shared as a community.
This week, it was incredible to see dozens of our students shine on stage during the fall play, Squirrel Girl Goes to College. Watching our students sing, dance, rap, and truly have fun in their performances was such a joy. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our talented performers—it means so much to them and to our school.
A few important reminders:
- This Friday is an early release day, and school will resume in December.
- Parent-teacher conferences are happening next week, and we’re looking forward to connecting with so many of you. The sign-ups are now closed, and we hope everyone enjoys their time at school next week as well as the Thanksgiving Break. No matter how you celebrate, I hope it’s restful and a special time spent with loved ones.
Lastly, I’d like to share my appreciation for everyone who has taken the time to complete the Humanex survey. We’re currently at 14%, and it would be fantastic to see if we can get at least 100 more surveys completed by the end of the window. Your feedback is so valuable to us! Please take a moment to fill out the survey using the link below:

Thank you all for your continued support of our Edgewood community. Wishing you a happy and restful Thanksgiving!
Warm regards,
Louis Kotvis
Principal, Edgewood Middle School
All my best,

Good to Know Information
Recess Study Hall (First Posting)
Students looking for a quiet place to get work done during their recess can sign up to attend Recess Study Hall. Students sign up through a form on their Clever homepage in the morning between 7:55am and 8:15am. Due to space limitations, only the first 5 students to sign up can attend Recess Study Hall that day.
Edgewood Participates in No Place for Hate School (Final Posting)
Edgewood Middle School will be participating in a district-wide initiative to earn the designation as a No Place for Hate school. No Place for Hate, an initiative by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), provides Pre-K–12 schools with a framework that supports students, administrators, teachers, and families in creating long-term solutions for fostering an inclusive and equitable school climate.
Through this framework, schools work to:
Build inclusive, safe communities where respect and equity are prioritized, allowing all students to thrive.
Empower students, faculty, administrators, and families to take a unified stand against bias and bullying by integrating new and existing programs under a powerful, cohesive message.
Communicate a strong, unified message that every student has a place where they belong.
We look forward to keeping you updated on Edgewood’s progress toward this important designation.
Lost and Found (Final Posting)
Please note that all lost and found items will be donated after Thanksgiving break. We have encouraged students, and will continue to encourage them, to check for their belongings daily. Students have received reminders during announcements, and written reminders are posted at the front of the school. Lost and found items will also be available for viewing on the first day of in-person conferences.
