A. Recognition of the Students Who Won Battle of the Books
The Board celebrated and congratulated the students who won the Battle of the Books competition from Thomas Middle School! Battle of the Books is a competition put on by our Middle School LMC Directors who create space for a friendly competition between South and Thomas students who form teams on their knowledge of a list of ten books.

The Board recognized and congratulated the Thomas Middle School 7th Grade Girls Volleyball team that qualified for the state tournament.

13. CONSENT AGENDA
MOTION: APPROVED
That the Board of Education approve those items on the Consent Agenda as follows: (A) Personnel Report and Addendum to Personnel Report; (B) Treasurer's Report (C) Invoices; (D) Regular and Closed Session Meeting Minutes of March 11, 2025; (E) Board bills.
With the approval of the consent agenda and the personnel reports, the Board approved the next Associate Principal for South Middle School: Aubrey DeMuth.
Both will replace Associate Principal Steve Prorok who was approved as Principal of South at the January 2025 Board meeting.

B. 2025-26 NSSEO Budget
That the Board of Education approve the NSSEO Amended Budget for 2024-25 and the NSSEO Budget for 2025-26.
Assistant Superintendent of Business/CSBO, Stacey Mallek, proposed the NSSEO Amended Budget for the 2024-25 school year and the NSSEO Budget for the 2025-26 school year. NSSEO is District 25's special education cooperative.

C. 2024-25 Amended Budget
Assistant Superintendent of Business/CSBO, Stacey Mallek, presented an amended 2024-25 budget. The following adjustments were reasons for the update:
- The updated capital asset threshold required reallocations across accounts
- Utilities expenditure account adjustments were needed to account for increased costs and prior year amounts not paid during provider conversion.
- The sales of the remaining referendum bonds at a premium required different general ledger entries than budgeted.
An amended budget must follow the same process and legal requirements (105 ILCS 5/17-1) as the original budget.
The schedule will be as follows:
- April 22, 2025 | Present 2024-25 tentative amended budget
- Prior to May 12, 2025 | Publish notice for public hearing
- June 10, 2025 | Public Hearing
- June 10, 2025 | Adoption of final amended budget

C. Strategic Plan Update
At the February 11, 2025 Board Meeting, Superintendent, Dr. Brian Kaye presented a plan to embark on the District's next Strategic Planning Process, lead by Perry D. Soldwedel, who facilitated the District's previous Strategic Plan that was adopted by the Board on April 8, 2021.
At this meeting, Mr. Soldwedel, presented more specifics to the Board about the process the District is beginning this Spring.
The goal is to have a final plan, ready for the Board's review and potential adoption by February 2026.

Special Board Meeting
WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 2025 4PM - 8PM ๐
The AHSD25 Board of Education will hold a Special Board Meeting on May 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The meeting will focus on planning for the next Strategic Plan and is designated as a Special Board Meeting due to the attendance of more than two board members. The meeting will be held at the Dunton Administration Building, 1200 S. Dunton Avenue, Arlington Heights.
