Message from Superintendent Dr. Latrice N. Mumin
Greetings, CUSD Families!
As we wrap up the 2024–25 school year, I want to thank all of our families for your continued support and partnership.
Tomorrow marks our final full day of school, followed by two half days, with Monday, June 16 being the last official day. It’s been an incredible year filled with accomplishments, and moments we’ll remember and grow from.
In this final official edition of Clipper Connection, we’re highlighting just a few of the many amazing events that have taken place across our district recently. We’re also preparing a special end-of-month edition to celebrate our high school graduation, promotion and move-up ceremonies for our younger scholars, and anything else we may have missed.
Before I end, I’m proud to share that CUSD was recently honored with the Community Service Award at the Boys & Girls Club of Chester’s 2025 Black Tie Gala. Thank you to the BGCC for this recognition and for being a valued partner in supporting our scholars.
Again, I hope you enjoy this last edition of Clipper Connection and look back on the year with C-Pride. Wishing you and your family a safe and enjoyable summer! And happy early Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures in our school community.
Deadline Extended! Take Our Family Survey
The deadline to complete our Family Survey has been extended to this Friday, June 13.
We encourage all families to take a few minutes to share their feedback, which helps us improve the experiences and opportunities we provide for students and families.
If you have children in more than one school, please complete a separate survey for each school. You can access the survey by scanning the QR code on the flyer or picking up a copy at your child’s school.

CHS Earns Silver Level School Award for 2nd Year in A Row
I’m proud to share that Chester High School has once again earned the Silver Level School Award from the Governor’s Civic Engagement Awards. This marks the second year in a row they’ve received this honor.
CHS was one of only 14 schools in Pennsylvania to earn silver this year, and one of just 33 schools statewide recognized for promoting student-led voter registration efforts.
A special thank you to Ms. Jonni Moody, CHS’s Government and Economics teacher, for her leadership in guiding our seniors through the process.
2025 Summer Credit Recovery
Students may take up to two classes in core subjects such as English, Science, Math, Social Studies, and Spanish, with daily sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

For more information, families can scan the QR code on the flyer, contact their school counselor, or visit STEM High School on registration days.
District-wide Spring Open Houses Conclude
Thank you to all the families and community members who joined us for our first round of District-Wide Open Houses recently. It was a pleasure welcoming you into our schools and sharing what makes each of our buildings special.
We will host more open houses in the fall, so stay connected to our platforms so you don’t miss the details.

DELCORA Donation Helps CUSD Prepare for Winter
Recently, CUSD received a donation of over 30 pairs of waterproof, thermal boots from DELCORA to help students stay warm and dry during next winter’s cold and rainy months. These boots will directly support our McKinney-Vento students who may need extra protection as the seasons change.
This will help our Department of Student Success and Engagement, which works year-round to assist families in transition. A heartfelt thank you to DELCORA for helping us ensure every student is covered—rain, snow, or shine.

CUSD Senior Prom
Prom night in Chester is always a big deal, and once again, our seniors did not disappoint! Dressed to impress and ready to shine, they brought amazing looks to the “A Night in Paris”-themed celebration at The Waterfall.
A huge thank you to the parents/families who helped get our scholars ready-- we know it takes a lot to prepare students for prom. And another thank you to the prom committee and staff who made sure every detail came together beautifully.
Baccalaureate Ceremony
This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending the Baccalaureate service for our graduating seniors. It was a meaningful event filled with encouragement and reflection as local faith leaders shared inspiring messages with the Class of 2025.
We also enjoyed two beautiful musical performances by student vocalists that made the ceremony even more special.
Thank you to the faith leaders who joined us and to everyone who helped bring the event together. Congratulations again to the Class of 2025.
Class Day
More highlights for our graduating senior class! On Tuesday, we celebrated Class Day to recognize the achievements and hard work of our seniors.
Dozens of students were honored with awards and recognitions for academics, leadership, and service.
We were also proud to see several local organizations present scholarships to support our students as they take their next steps. Congratulations to all of our award recipients and scholarship winners!
5th-Grade District-Wide Dance
We’ve been celebrating students of all ages this season with dances and formals held across the district, including our District-Wide 5th-Grade Dance on May 30.
Some of our youngest scholars showed up dressed to impress and had a fantastic time celebrating the end of their elementary journey.

All Sports Banquet Celebrates Student-Athletes District-Wide
The District-Wide All Sports Banquet recently took place, celebrating an unforgettable year for our student-athletes. From big wins to history-making moments, our student-athletes gave it their all and showed a lot of #CPride this season, and it showed.
I’m so proud of everything they’ve accomplished and thankful for the families who supported them every step of the way. Huge thanks as well to our Athletic Director, LaDontay Bell, and the coaching staff for pouring so much into our programs.

CUSD’s Multicultural Family Summit
Our Multicultural Family Summit was a meaningful and engaging event that brought families together to celebrate the many cultures represented in our school community.
It was great to see our ELD students and their families participating and sharing what makes their backgrounds unique.
