Christine G. - Bank of America Student Leader Program
Each summer, Bank of America holds its Student Leader Program, an eight-week paid summer internship providing students with first-hand experience in serving their communities. This year, Bank of America selected Round Rock Early College High School’s rising Senior, Christine G., to participate in the program. Known for her leadership on campus, passion for philanthropy and dedication to youth and community initiatives, Christine will work for the local nonprofit, Communities in Schools, where she will help the organization’s mission of supporting Central Texas students on their path to graduation. Included in the group photo are all four Student Leaders plus Bank of America Austin’s market president, David Bader and market executive, Carly Spraberry.
As a part of the program, Christine will attend the Student Leader Summit in Washington, D.C. where she will learn how nonprofits, governments, and businesses collaborate to meet local needs. CONGRATULATIONS, Christine!

DISTRICT UPDATE:
Summer Programs Weekly Round-Up: Crafting and Creating
Jun 21, 2024
Summer is in full swing here at Round Rock ISD, and the district offers a variety of camps for families to partake in throughout the summer.
There are dozens of different camps available for kids of all ages.
This week, we explored two camps led by Round Rock ISD educators. Art Journaling at Linda Herrington Elementary School and Sew My Goodness’ Imagination Made Huggable Camp at Elsa England Elementary School.
The students spend their mornings constructing an art journal using mixed media techniques at the Art Journaling camp. They incorporated painting, stenciling, stamping, collaging, and more in their work. By the end of the camp, each participant had constructed their own art journal and learned the skills to continue creating throughout the rest of the summer.
“The students are learning creativity and how to use their imagination with the things they have on hand around them,” said Leah Allen, the camp teacher. “I hope they leave with new ways to express themselves and unwind while doing something fun!”
At least one student is taking those sentiments to heart.
“I love painting, having fun, and meeting new people,” said Isabella. “I’m getting to connect with people I’ve never met before, people with the same interests as me. It’s also really cool seeing everyone’s different interpretations of their feelings through art!”
Meanwhile, Sew My Goodness’ Imagination Made Huggable camp was geared towards teaching students the art of sewing. They used a pattern to cut fabric, then stuffed their creations before using a sewing machine to stitch up their custom stuffed animals.
One student said she loves the plushies she’s gotten to make.
“I just love plushies! I think I’m going to try to keep sewing them, even after camp is over!” said Eve.
Students of all ages need to continue their learning through the summer. These Round Rock ISD camps help guide and grow students’ skills while keeping them engaged while making new friends.
The summer isn’t over yet. Students can still enroll at https://roundrockisd.ce.eleyo.com/
