"Bytes" From Your School Leader, Dr. Townsend
September 20, 2024
Greetings Phalen Virtual Leadership Academy Families,
Happy Friday! How was your week? I hope it went well. We had a great week at PLA Virtual. Mrs. Moses, HS Counselor, took our high school scholars on their first school sponsored college tour for the school year at IU Indy (see a sneak peek picture below).
This week you received Last week, you should have received a stakeholder survey via email. It is a jotform link that will ask you a series of questions about your satisfaction with our school, your experience, our teachers, staff and administration. We value feedback, as this will also help support us during our 5 year school renewal, which we shared during Parent Orientation. You will receive several emails, as we want them to hear from as many families as possible about your experience at Phalen Virtual Leadership Academy. If for some reason you did not receive the email or cannot quite seem to find it, please use the link provided further below in the newsletter to complete. It will take you less than 5 minutes, I promise!
Registration is still open for the 2024-2025 Academic School Year. Please share your success at PLA Virtual with friends, family, neighbors and organizations, as we may be a great school choice for them as well. Our registration link is below. We appreciate all the referrals that have been shared with us by YOU. They are proud to give your name as the person who referred them, and we also sing your praises in return as we appreciate all of our families.
We look forward to seeing your scholar(s) on Monday, September 23, 2024 for week 6 of our school year! Our Grades 6-12 scholars begin their school day at 8:00am and our Grades K-5 scholars begin at 8:30am.
Have a wonderful weekend!
With Gratitude,
Dr. Townsend, Principal

A NOTE ON MENTAL HEALTH:
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. It affects how we think, feel, and act as we cope with life. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood and aging. . Please communicate with your students on how they are thinking and feeling. Please seek help if you feel your student is struggling with mental health.
