Mount Sacred Heart
July Newsletter: 2020 - 2021 School Options
Dear Mount Sacred Heart Family,
Welcome back Eagles! We hope this letter finds you and your family well and safe. The 2019 - 2020 school year was a monumental one that included the retirement of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, potential school closure, purchase of our school, and COVID- 19. Through it all, the indisputable fact remained that we are united in community. Our Mount Family is like no other and because of that, we are excited to share our efforts on how to make sure our community comes back together for the start of the 2020 - 2021 school year.
The Administrative Leadership Team for the 2020 - 2021 school year are:
Ms. Ruth Dionne - Business Manager
Mrs. Angie Garcia - Dean of Students
Mrs. Tina Polin - Director of Development and Communications
Ms. Kathy Restivo - Faith Formation/ Mother Cabrini Center / Middle School Religion
The Leadership Team along with a safety task force have worked on various scenarios and we feel that we can share the framework of our plans. While we all desire to know exactly what the new school year is going to look like, please know that we are continuously checking and following the recommendations from the Great State of Texas, Centers for Disease Control, Texas Education Agency, the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops, and the Archdiocese of San Antonio to guide our response and plans.
Our upcoming plans that are subject to change due to COVID- 19:
Synchronous Learning - Face to Face for our all grades
This is our goal for the 2020 - 2021 school year. We pray to have your smiling child back in the classroom, socially distanced, and following all current guidelines.
Asynchronous Learning - Online Distance Learning
This option is offered to the 2nd through 8th grades. Students will attend an online Archdiocesan approved curriculum that will be aligned to the standards being taught in the classroom. This option allows the student to be a part of the Eagle family and will allow the student to return to the community, at the end of the quarter.
Distance Learning - Quarantine Contingency
While this is not what we hope for, we are encouraged that our community will be able to successfully navigate distance learning as you showed during the Spring semester.
As we draw closer to the start of the school year, we will be laying out a detailed plan outlining our safety procedures that will be in line with all respective agencies. While things change almost daily, we can assure you we will have the most up to date and safest options for our community. We cannot stress enough, our excitement for this new school year. There has been so much that has been happening behind the scenes and we cannot wait for you and your family to join us. While there is so much uncertainty, one thing remains our faith will get us through this time as we are united in one God, one School, one Family.
God’s Blessings and continued safety,
Tina M. Polin
Director of Development and Communications
