From Your Pastors
Dear Zion family –
Happy Valentine’s Day! This past Wednesday in chapel, our students told the story of Saint Valentine, a third century evangelist who was martyred by the Roman Empire for sharing his faith in Jesus. As we celebrate God’s gift of love with those we love this Valentine’s Day, keep in mind all those who have suffered and sacrificed for the faith we get to freely share. They did it out of love for Jesus. As the Church, may we continue to share Jesus’ love with the world – on Valentine’s Day, and on every day!
Our Spring Sausage Sale, which supports Zion’s mission work, is only a couple of weeks away, and we’re still looking for volunteers. You can sign up to serve using the board in the lobby. Your time working at this sale can help share Jesus with people who need Him.
In worship, we continue our series called “History’s Most Memorable Message,” where we’re studying Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. This weekend, we'll look at what Jesus has to say about our financial resources in Matthew 6:19-24:
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
Money is meant to be a gift from God, but it can all too easily become an idol for us. How can we keep money from ruling our hearts and lives? Find out this weekend in worship. We worship at 8 am in our beautiful historic sanctuary, at 10:45 am in our wonderful worship center, or online at zionwalburg.org.
Your pastors love you!

Project Connect Booklet "Love Thy Neighborhood"
The need to show God's love to those who are hurting, spiritually lost, and sinking is as urgent for our neighborhoods as anywhere else. Using Scriptures and real-life illustrations, the Project Connect booklet encourages us to love our neighborhoods in proactive, non-partial ways. Just as Jesus' parable of the Good Samaritan models Christ-like empathy and action, so too can we honor the call to share the Gospel and glorify God by serving those who live next door or down the street.
