SHS IS STAGING "PETER PAN"
The Sycamore High School Drama Club will stage “Peter Pan” on Thursday, May 2 at 7 p.m., Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 4 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door. The play is being directed by SHS theatre teacher Caitlin Jennings. Our students have worked hard on the production, and we hope you can catch one of the performances!
"GREASE" IS COMING TO THE HHS STAGE
The Harpeth High School Advanced Theatre students will stage the classic musical, “Grease,” on Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 4 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 5 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. This renowned musical is a true classic with songs that will make you want to sing and dance along with the cast. It will also be the final production for longtime HHS theatre teacher Anita DeFrancesca, who is retiring this year. FRIDAY IS SCHOOL LUNCH HERO DAY!
Not all heroes wear capes, some wear aprons! Join us in thanking our School Nutrition staff as Friday, May 3 is School Lunch Hero Day. Our team is dedicated to ensuring their students are fed nutritious meals that prepare them for success during their academic day. If you see one of our cafeteria workers on Friday, please let them know how much they are appreciated!
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK IS MAY 6-10
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10! Teachers have such a great impact on the lives of our students. We hope that our families can find a special way to say “thank you” to the all wonderful teachers in our district.
ANNUAL STEAM COMPETITION IS MAY 8
We are hosting our annual STEAM competition on Wednesday, May 8 at Ashland City Elementary STEM Academy. Each school will have a team of students competing in several judged activities. This year's theme is solar power. CTE/STEAM Coordinator Chris Cooper organizes this annual event.

School nurses support students and student health every day of the year. But, on National School Nurse Day, we take special time to celebrate and recognize the contributions that our nine school nurses are making to the health and learning of our students.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN
The kindergarten registration window is now open for the Class of 2037. Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 15, 2024, in order to be eligible to start kindergarten. The kindergarten registration packets (in both English and Spanish) are available on our website by clicking here. For additional information, please contact the zoned school that your child is scheduled to attend. The district encourages families to register their children early to ensure adequate time for scheduling and staffing.

JOIN US FOR THE SUMMER STEAM INSTITUTE!
We are thrilled to announce the inaugural Summer STEAM Institute, a dynamic summer project-based learning opportunity exclusively for Cheatham County students entering grades 3-8 in the fall of 2024. This year's exciting theme, "Mission to Mars," promises an engaging and educational journey into the realms of Rocketry, Robotics, and Interplanetary Habitat Development. COALITION OFFERS TN PROMISE SERVICE HOURS
Cheatham County students in need of volunteer hours are welcomed to complete their hours with the Cheatham County Community Enhancement Coalition. The Coalition is approved by TN Promise and one of the many designated organizations that can be used for volunteer hours. The Coalition offers an array of projects, tasks, and events to choose from. DISTRICT ANNOUNCES SUMMER LEARNING CAMPS
We are excited to announce plans for our 2024 summer learning camps. We will offer the no-cost camps for current K-8 students. Students in grades 9-12 will also have a half day option to complete credit recovery classes. Invitations are currently being sent out by our schools. Priority is being given to students in need of additional learning support prior to the 2024-2025 school year. Transportation, breakfast and lunch will be provided. The camps will be held May 30-June 26 with June 19 off for Juneteenth. Locations for the camp are at West Cheatham Elementary School, Pegram Elementary Fine Arts Magnet School and Sycamore Middle School.
OPEN, OUT-OF-COUNTY ENROLLMENT INFORMATION
We are currently accepting applications for open and out-of-county enrollment for students who wish to attend our schools in the 2024-2025 school year. The DEADLINE to apply is Friday, May 17. The open enrollment and out-of-county enrollment applications are available on our website by clicking here. The number of available seats per school for next school year has been posted on our website. According to state law, school districts must identify each school with space available to enroll and serve additional students. BOOK/STEAM BUS RETURNS THIS SUMMER
Our book/STEAM bus will hit the road again this summer! As you might recall, we received a grant from the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation to launch the bus a few years ago. The bus will run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon during the month of June. We are planning some exciting activities. Please check out the schedule and make plans to attend this year. Remember that the bus is open to all students in the community.
NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION BEGINS JULY 29
Will your child be new to the Cheatham County School District this year or are your transferring your child from one school to another within the district this year? If so, new student registration for the 2024-2025 school year is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 29. Please follow each school’s social media pages as specific information will be shared on them or call the school for additional information. If your child is already enrolled in the district and staying at the same school or moving to a feeder school (such as elementary school to middle school or middle school to high school), you do not need to enroll them for the new school year.
2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR BEGINS AUGUST 7
The 2024-2025 school calendar is now available on our website. The school year will begin on Wednesday, August 7 for students in grades 1-9 with a 10:45 a.m. dismissal. The first full day for students in grades 1-12 is Thursday, August 8. The first full day for Pre-K and Kindergarten students is Wednesday, August 14.
