Maritime Knitting (It's A Thing!) 🧶
Rebecca Bayreuther Donohue visited NFHS to give a talk to Mrs. McGovern's Maritime Culture ECE class. Rebecca is affiliated with the Mystic Seaport Museum where she is an advisor for historical costumes, as well as an organization called Dirty Blue Shirts which specializes in research and the display of historical costumes.
Students learned about the history of maritime knitting, and began to create pieces on their own. See the video clips below by clicking on the pictures to get a small sampling of students beginning to learn the skill that generations of artisans have made!

France Exchange Interest Survey
Rejoignez-nous pour accueillir les étudiants français à New Fairfield !
Are you ready to embark on a cultural exchange without leaving the comfort of your home? Join us in welcoming students from the Loire Valley of France for a brief stay during the 2024-25 school year. This opportunity is part of a well-established exchange program, which also includes student travel. The French students are eager to immerse themselves in American life, practice their English, and share their culture, providing cross-cultural connections for our students. Your participation in this survey is invaluable: by filling out the survey to express your interest, you're helping to lay the groundwork for a potential cultural exchange. Host families are not obligated to send their students to France.
College & Career Center: Senior Scholarship Applications
Each year, NFHS offers one application for all students to apply to multiple local scholarships. Students who complete this application will be reviewed by a scholarship committee to be a potential recipient for local scholarships.
All applications must be submitted by the end of the day - April 26, 2024. No late applications will be accepted. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Romanello at romanello.valerie@newfairfieldschools.org
