This is Mr. Hawkins, Principal of Viers Mill Elementary School, with our weekly Sunday message. During the month of January, our students will participate in a number of assessments that may include the winter administration of the Measures for Academic Progress (MAP) in literacy and math, WIDA ACCESS for students identified as emergent multilingual learners, and other content-based assessments to conclude the second marking period. We ask families to continue ensuring that your children are well-rested, arrive to school on time, and attend school everyday.

Our rescheduled Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Meeting will take place online this Wednesday, January 15 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Please join us virtually to share your feedback for improving our school community, receive updates from school administration, and learn more about upcoming PTA-sponsored events! Tuesday, January 14: Storytime event for parents and caregivers with children ages 0-4 (9:00-9:30 a.m. in our Media Center)

Wednesday, January 15: Virtual Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Meeting (7:00-8:00 p.m.)

Monday, January 20: Schools and Offices Closed (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Holiday)

Wednesday, January 29: No School for Students (End of 2nd Marking Period; Professional Day for Staff)

Friday, January 31: PTA Art Night (6:30-8:00 p.m.)
