Dragon Blast
August 2024

January 27, 2025
Our PBIS pep rally was a hit! Students enjoyed celebrating our three expectations of respect, responsibility, and safety. Fireball even made a special appearance to help us kick off the fun! Between reviewing expectations and taking part in some games, we also introduced our monthly themes for the second half of the year. For January, we’ve been focusing on courage. If you get a chance, ask your child how they’ve been taking steps to be courageous. Looking ahead, February’s theme will be empathy.
A huge thank you for your generous cereal donations! Together, we collected 204 boxes—an impressive 229 pounds of cereal—for the Chester County Food Bank. Your support is greatly appreciated!
A big shout out to Mrs. Lord and Mrs. Collins for another successful Family Bingo night! It was a great time had by all, especially thanks to all of the donated prizes, parent volunteers, and staff callers. We are already brainstorming ways to make sure we have more space for everyone next year.
As temperatures rise a bit, we’re excited to get students back outside for fresh air during recess. Please remember to send your child to school with a coat to stay warm.
Lastly, here’s hoping Punxsutawney Phil doesn’t see his shadow this year—fingers crossed for an early spring!

Flexible Instruction Day Information
WCASD has one more snow day to use before we consider implementing a "Flexible Instruction Day" which would have students learn from home virtually to make the day "count" without needing to extend the school year in June.
We are prepared in the event of needing to use a FID, and your learner will be doing a test-run this week with their class to learn how to access Microsoft Teams and other resources with independence.
The FID plan is similar to previous years in that students will have a schedule for the day which includes two live instructional meetings with their class and some assigned work. In grades 3-5, students will also have a live session with their special areas teacher.
We will share more details should we get closer to a FID, but in the meantime, know that our team has a strong plan and is working with our students on learning the tools they'll need to be successful learning from anywhere!
