Battle of the Buildings

Hey, class of 2025 and 2026! Do you remember when you were little and your teachers and "big kids" participated in Battle of the Buildings? Well, here is your chance to be one of the "big kids". Use the QR code here or one of the ones posted around the building to apply to be Captain of either the junior class or senior class. One male and one female from each class will be selected to help carry out the various responsibilities and build your class team. Applications are due on February 20th at 2:45 pm.

From The School Counseling Office From The School Counseling Office

Please contact the School Counseling Office with any questions regarding this information.

ATTENTION SENIORS

Please see the IMPORTANT email that CYHS School Counseling Office Secretary Mrs. Kendra Vasellas sent to you today. The email subject is “Scholarships and Financial Aid for Post-Secondary Education.”

2025 Advanced Placement (AP) Testing Information

AP Exam registration forms for second semester AP classes were distributed to students in early February. The cost for each exam is $99. The registration form and deposit monies are due in the School Counseling Office by 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 6. Please contact Mrs. Foery with any questions regarding the exam registration process.

Testing accommodations on the PSAT, SAT, and AP Exams

Students who receive testing accommodations (like extended time or extra breaks) on their classroom tests and Keystones also can request to have these accommodations for College Board tests (PSAT, SAT, and AP exams). Students must ask their school counselor for the consent form. The approval process for accommodations can take several weeks (and is not guaranteed), so students should submit the form well in advance of their next scheduled exam!

IMPORTANT EVENT COMING UP!

Join us on Thursday, March 13 from 6 to 7pm for our Preparing for Your Future: Understanding Your Career & College Options program. This is the same evening as Parent Conferences, so we hope it will be convenient for families to attend. Attendees will learn about options after high school, then will choose between sessions about the college admissions process, military opportunities, and careers in the trades / technical fields. This program is appropriate for ALL high school students and their families.

IMPORTANT TASKS FOR JUNIORS

11th grade students MUST set up their Parchment account, following the directions at tinyurl.com/cyhsparchment. It’s ALSO time to register for the SAT or ACT, if you’re planning to apply to colleges. Go to sat.org and act.org for information, free preparation tools, and registration. If you get free or reduced price lunch, ask your counselor for a fee waiver!

NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Eligibility

Student-athletes planning to play sports in college should learn about the NCAA initial eligibility requirements at tinyurl.com/CYHSNCAA and see their school counselor with any questions.

PEER TUTORING

Available daily during FLEX, peer tutoring can be requested at tinyurl.com/cyhstutoring. Students wanting to be peer tutors can sign up at tinyurl.com/be-a-peer-tutor.
