March Wrap-Up and April Highlights
Well, the school year is about to end. I have enjoyed working here for the last 20 years. I am very proud of the program we have developed at Lafayette, and I know that it will continue to be amazing with such a great staff.
The end of the year is always very busy with end of year projects and assessing students for next year.
1st grade WIN -
They finalized their slideshow presentation about insects. Now we are enjoying some reader’s plays
Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears and The Very Cranky Bear.
2nd grade WIN
They are filming their play The Chocolate Touch. This will be available to parents in the next couple of weeks.
They are also continuing to practice their typing skills.
4h grade WIN

Students presented projects on non fiction texts. We had projects like
Comic Strips about Ben Franklin
Jeopardy about Spinosaurus
Slideshow about Hurling
Pizza Box Project about David Beckum

Lacrosse stick with facts about Lacrosse.
Very Cool!!
5th grade Rube Goldberg projects
These projects demonstrated students' creativity and ingenuity.
We hand some awesome projects:
Putting Food in a Bowl
Popping a Balloon
Watering a Plant by Popping a water Balloon
Stamping a Piece of Paper with s BOOT!
Launching an EGG!
Turning a piece of paper over that said HI!
Knocking over a LEGO piece or moving somethin g at the end!
Magnets that pick up pieces of metal!
Uncovering a sign.
It was amazing!! Their trifolds displayed the different stages an a brief description of each stage, This project helped students with executive function. They really had to plan it out and have it ready to present to their fellow 6th graders.
Math classes are going well and all classes are finishing up with their grade level curriculum.
We received the Noetic Awards! They will be coming home this week. The students performed very well. 90% of all students that took the test scored at an Honorable Mention or higher! WAY TO GO COUGARS!!
I will be assessing students in second and third graders to help build a body of evidence for next year’s placement.
I want to end by saying that it has been an honor to teach your children over the years! I will miss you all.
