January's Golden Ticket Prize Winners
Congratulations to our January Golden Ticket prize winners! Last Friday, ten Golden Tickets were pulled from the box in the main office. Golden Tickets are earned when students go above and beyond our expectations of Respect, Ownership, Courage, Kindness and Safety. Staff give them to students when they are really impressed. The following 10 students were given the choice of a Dunkin Donut or a sweet treat at lunch.
Congratulations to: Akee Hunter-Boynes, Delaney Crowley, Camila Dyer, Gael Gonzalez-Alpizar, Kendall Wilkinson, Styven Bassantes, Jordyn McCain-Sullivan, Harper Griffith, Leah Pinkerton, and Aubrey Taylor.
Keep up the great work! We are so proud of you!
Kylee Dart and Jordan Mayo...January's Students of the Month
Kylee: Kylee always has a smile on her face. She works hard in class, participating and always trying her best. She is kind and a good friend.
Jordan: Jordan has really grown personally and academically. He is always present on time, always ready to learn, willing to ask for help when uncertain, and participates in class. He even offers a bit of humor in classes.
Both students are hard workers and show respectful behaviors daily. They have had a wonderful first half of the school year academically as well, and we are so proud of them! Keep up the great work!
January's Employee of the Month... Mr. Moss
Congratulations, Mr. Moss! Mr. Moss is new to Scott this year. He is a very strong educator who puts kids learning first. He plans at a high-level and uses creativeness with technology to engage his students with learning. Mr. Moss has a positive attitude and is often seen smiling and laughing with colleagues and students. The students in his classes are having a great year and we are so happy he has joined our team. Thank you for all that you do to help our students and staff here at Scott!
We also want to congratulate our runners up: Ms. Deon, Mrs. Marchesani and Mr. Handerhan. All three staff members were given a gift card to treat themselves at Dunkin. We have an amazing team here at Scott.
Candygrams
Student Council is selling candygrams as a fundraiser for Valentine's Day. They will be delivering sheets in homeroom this week. Students and staff that are interested may fill out the candygrams and return the sheet(s) by Friday with their money.
Candygrams are $0.25 each. Students have the choice of 2 Jolly Ranchers or a heart lollipop. Candygrams will be delivered to homerooms on Valentine's Day.
Cafeteria Seating During Lunch
Last Friday we switched the seating in our cafeteria. Students are now sitting alphabetically by their last names and are spread throughout the cafeteria. We needed a reset during lunch and are hopeful that the new seating will support students in making better choices.
The expectations in the cafeteria are to stay seated, keep your area clean, and speak quietly. Tables are rewarded daily for following expectations with a reward once they earn 10 points.
We will keep the seating this way through the 3rd marking period with a few minor changes this week to get things settled. If lunches go well, students will be able to choose their seating for the 4th marking period.
A Reminder About School Appropriate Language
Mr. Altland and Mrs. Lamothe have been having many conversations lately with students about the importance of using respectful language in school. It is never okay to curse at the adults at Scott, nor is it okay to speak that way to peers. Please continue to remind your students that anger and frustration are normal, but not an excuse to lose control. Students that curse at staff are being suspended.
Another important reminder is that any threatening language that is used at school triggers a threat assessment from our Guidance Counselor or Mental Health Specialist. It is never okay to say that you are going to shoot someone or kill someone. These statements are taken seriously and also carry serious consequences from our student code of conduct. Once again, please reinforce with your children that anger and frustration are normal, but cannot be an excuse to lose control and make bad decisions.
Thank you for support.
