THAT WYLIE BUGLE: 4/1-4/6

Congratulations to Lindsey Lee, Kennedy Ostoja and Isabella Salander earning Birmingham Scholar distinction for Wylie ISD. In addition, we have 12 students in the top 10%. AND Lindsey Lee has earned the distinction of Salutatorian!

Parents, please attending the band booster meeting on 4/2 @7pm in the band hall. You will be voting for the booster board of directors for the 2024-25 school year at this meeting, as well as getting reports about the Jazz Swing Dance, Band Gala and much more. PLEASE attend. It will be brief.

Due to conflicts with HOSA and SKILL USA state meets, we have 2 different UIL dates.

Student council is putting on a Powder Puff Football game on Saturday and would like to have the band participate. It would be great to help them out with this activity. It will be minimal time, student led and you will receive service points. Click the Google Form below to sign up.

• 4:15 - Arrive and get instruments
  
• 4:30 - March to Stadium!
  
• 5pm – National Anthem: performance by Tempo
  
• 5:15pm – 1st game freshmen vs. sophomores (20 minutes)
  
• 5:35pm – End of first game – Trombones/Drumline Perform (10 minutes) – Next teams are Warming Up
  
• 5:45pm – 2nd game starts Juniors vs. Seniors (20 minutes)
  
• 6:05pm – End of 2nd game – Spirit Squad to perform (10 minutes) Winners are warming up
  
• 6:15pm – 3rd game starts – Championship Game for winners (20 minutes)
  
• 6: 35pm – End of Games- Winners Declared. Clean up and go home!!
  

The Jazz Band will present a Swing Dance on Saturday, April 13th at 6:00 PM here in the Wylie High School Cafeteria. Tickets will include admission and a group swing dance lesson, followed by a great night of dancing and music! There is an optional meal available at an additional cost. We will have a whole bunch of silent auction items for you to bid on! Eddie Lewis will join the kiddos as a guest artist on trumpet.

Tickets are $10-15 depending on premium seating. It is a full band fundraiser, so please consider attending and/or volunteering! Lots of student and parent volunteers will be needed, so stay tuned for more information.

Race to the Percussion Concert

• After UIL we will use some class time to focus on perc ensembles and morning sectionals will continue.
• Schedule down below
• At this point we should be able to play through all of the music. If there are still sections you don't know - fix that! (especially Angels of the Apocalypse, Shofukan, and Stay Alive for Me)
• Study the UIL Schedule at the top of the newsletter. We will talk about the plans for percussion equipment in band classes.
