Thanks for supporting our efforts with our children. our FAMOUS Trunk or Treat is next Monday. Wait until you see all the community organizations attending!! Loads of community and staff trunks including: our cafeteria, NYAA, Lifewise, the Athletic Boosters, Texas Roadhouse, our great faculty and staff, Peterman transportation, Johnstown Fire Dept., the Croton Church, the Alexandria Library, PTO, district offices...just to name a few...... Candy donations welcome/needed so we can deliver to all our hungry ghosts and goblins! Please send to school. Thank you for your generosity.
This we week we are opening our annual district wide United Way campaign. All proceeds are given to our neighbors here in Licking County. If you would like to contribute and donate, please send contributions to school, in an envelope, labeled clearly for the United Way. In an effort to involve our students .....children will also be "stuffing" a turkey with extra change......adults and children will be adding to the big turkey egg we will house in the hallway,. with contributed change. We will name the turkey this week and fill him to the brim with loose change. We will in competition with our middle school and high school for a GRAND PRIZE for the grade level collecting the most! The kids will enjoy this project. Our campaign will run November 4 through November 14, 2024. We aim to teach our students the joy of giving by encouraging them to “stuff their school’s turkey” during a feeding frenzy from November 4-13. Our turkeys eat a steady diet of spare change! The turkeys will “hatch” on November 4th for spare change.
We are so excited to announce that the STEAM program.... Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math is open in a beautiful new STEAM room in our elementary school. The overarching STEAM goal is the use of teamwork collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and creativity. STEAM has joined the Related Arts rotation in our schedule as not to take from reading, math, science. etc. For now, a 5 day rotation that allows students to attend school, but not miss the same special every week has been created. It is important that students attend all specials! We are still finalizing the schedule and we will then send out a calendar with a letter day assigned on each day for the remainder of the school yea soonr. Below is the letter day for next week. We will be putting this in the school weekly newsletter that goes out every Sunday. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you!

- Halloween parties and parade will be this Friday, November 1st. Children may wear school appropriate costumes to school or easy "put-on" for parade and school party. Costumes must not be overly scarey or have props for school.(no props including swords, knives, guns, handcuffs, etc. are permitted for school party/parade) Since we have little ones in the school we must be very careful. Our parade will be out in front of school beginning around 1:30(note time change) followed by a Halloween party in classrooms. Due to space and security, we can only have a few folks help us in the party. Due to space we cannot have younger siblings. But do come to our parade and enjoy our excitement.
- Volunteer????We have folks wanting to volunteer in our school or perhaps attend upcoming field trips or parties. Gr. 3 and Gr. 5 have a trip soon so be ready!!! Please complete these forms as part of our security process formality. Once we get the form back approved, we will get everyone board approved. :) All for the safety of our children. either one of these link work....

- LOST AND FOUND The NES Lost and Found has grown!!! Each day we see more than 2-3 sweatshirts added, many hats and gloves; numerous coats, etc. join the ever growing collection. We highly suggest having children label their belongings and remind them to bring home what they wear to school!!! You would be astounded at our collection of fine, fine things!! ☺ Since many families have looked in the collection AND we need room, we will donate remaining items on November 1st.
