A MESSAGE FROM MRS. REHFIELD
Thank you to our amazingly talented and curious Teaching Assistant, Mr. Ben, for making a difference in our Lincoln community... one paw print at a time.
Mr. Ben has been serving our school as a Teaching Assistant since 2022 and will begin his official student teaching hours after Winter Break.
He has also taken on a special project about the history of Lincoln School that involves uncovering treasures, memories, and forgotten images.
We are excited to share Mr. Ben's findings at our 75th Annual Lincoln Carnvial on February 1st.
Here is a small preview of one of the treasures that Mr. Ben has accumulated.

Trekkers
WHAT: Lincoln Trekkers is a voluntary weekly lunchtime program to encourage students to build endurance and cardiovascular health, as well as foster a sense of belonging and community by walking and/or running around the perimeter of the field. This is not a race!
WHEN: Trekkers will begin Thursday, October 10 during lunch recess. We will only walk or run when the weather allows us to. Students will need to wear gym shoes, and in cold weather they must wear a jacket.
HOW IT WORKS: On Thursdays, parent volunteers will track the laps students walk/run around the perimeter of the field. They will have about 20 minutes each week to complete laps. The goal is to walk or run 5 miles. Students can earn fun incentives as they log miles and stay fit.
WE NEED volunteers to pass out lap cards, track laps, and monitor the route! The time commitment is 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m, Thursdays, through December 12th. Please sign up here to volunteer.
Read-A-Thon Update
Thank you to all our families for your support of the read-a-thon! As of today our students have read 169,212 minutes and have raised $31,385.
Our Read-a-thon will run from September 16- October 1.
Please see the information to sign up in your student's green folder or go to https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/313132313335. Activation takes less than a minute.
ALL students should sign up, even if you are unable to complete fundraising. Classes who raise the most money will be awarded, but classes will also be rewarded for reading the most minutes!

World Language
The Lincoln World Language Program introduces all students, regardless of past language experience, to the basics of French, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese. Classes take place during lunch and recess time 1 day a week and are taught by experienced language teachers.
Objectives of the program are to increase global awareness and foster an appreciation for other people and cultures, create a positive attitude towards language learning, and help students acquire language in context through meaningful day to day activities and in a compelling way while supporting them through their conversational skills.
Activities may include playing games, learning songs, play acting, asking and answering questions, following commands, listening to stories, worksheets, videos, coloring, and craft projects.
Fees are assessed to fund the program, but are reduced or waived for students whose households request financial aid.
