Miss Cleasby's 4K News
News for the week of Monday, October 29th
Pumpkin Theme
This week we will continue our "Pumpkin" theme and we will also talk a little bit about "Spiders". I hope your child was able to tell the Big Pumpkin story to someone at home. This Tuesday we will have our fall festival celebration. This week we will also be sequencing the life cycle of a pumpkin and opening up a pumpkin to see what is inside. We will be making a spider art project using a technique called marble painting.
Fall Festival
This Tuesday, October 30th is our 4K Fall Festival. This will be a fun day where students can wear costumes to school if they would like. Please make sure costumes are appropriate for school (No weapons, masks, or face paint please). We will be having a costume parade (A.M. Class- through the hallways of the Elementary School P.M. Class- down Main Street). We will be making some special treats for snack and we will playing some fun class games like "Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin"!
Last Week-Pumpkin Playdoh
Reminders
* For Jolly Phonics we will be continuing with the letter "P" this week. We will read the book The Pigs Picnic and the students will receive their own mini copy to take home. We will also glue popcorn on our letter "P" cutouts this week.
* The new snack schedule with daily snack helpers will start this week Thursday, November 1st. The snack bucket will be sent home the day before your child is snack helper. Thank you with your help in encouraging your child to pick healthier snack selections on days that are not Birthdays or "Star of the Week" celebrations. We are still doing cooking projects a few times a month. I realize that this might become a lot of items we are requesting of families. If snack or cooking project items ever become too much of a burden please let me know. We have an extra supply of snacks set aside for this very reason.
* Please send in completed October reading logs. If your child reached the 300 minute goal this month they may choose from a prize of a free kids meal at Subway or a free kids meal at the Deerfield Pub and Grill. Please mark which reward you would like on your reading log. Look for the November reading log in your child's folder (this will look different than October's reading log). Have your child color in a turkey every time they read or are read to for 5-10 minutes. If they have colored in all the turkeys by the end of the month they will receive the free kid's meal reward. Thank you parents for helping instill a love of reading in your child!
