A Message from your Principal, Mrs. Katie Johnson
This message serves as a reminder about the upcoming solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th. Dr. Wise, our Superintendent, has sent out a detailed parent letter regarding this exciting celestial event.
I encourage you to take a moment to review Dr. Wise's letter below for important information. While students will be provided with safety glasses to observe the eclipse, our time outdoors for viewing will be minimal due to safety precautions. As a result, P.E. classes and recess scheduled during the eclipse will be held indoors.
Due to our dismissal time at IDE, which occurs during the deepest point of the eclipse, we will be sending glasses home with our students to ensure safety during the eclipse. Please send the glasses back to the school with students on Tuesday so we can use them for future eclipses.
If you have any concerns or would prefer your child not participate in the eclipse viewing outside, please contact the school office at your earliest convenience. We will ensure students who choose not to participate can still observe the eclipse on a monitor inside the school.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Katie Johnson
Principal

The Night with the PRIDE: VIP/Open House/BookFair
Exciting news, Lion families!
This year, we're transforming our traditional events (VIP day and Open House) into a brand new celebration: The Night with the PRIDE! Join Elizabeth Ide on Thursday, May 2nd for an evening showcasing the amazing things happening at our school.
Here's what you can expect:
- Lion Pride on Display: Explore classrooms, participate in fun activities, and witness the school your Lion roars about!
- Scholastic Book Fair: Stock up on exciting reads at the PTO-sponsored Scholastic Book Fair.
- Capture the Memories: Create lasting moments with photo opportunities throughout the evening.
- Food Trucks on Site (tentative): Refuel and socialize with fellow Lion families at the food trucks (availability to be confirmed).
Stay Tuned! We'll share more details and exciting surprises after Spring Break. In the meantime, save the date and get ready for a night of Lion pride!
We hope to see you there!

Attendance
Please remember to either call the attendance line (630-783-5199). If you are unable to do so and email the classroom teacher, please also include Ms. Sorn in the email about any absences. This will avoid getting a call from the office and it helps if there are substitutes in a class.
It is also important to include Ms. Sorn in any transportation changes.
