Arrival & Dismissal
As we continue to prioritize student safety during arrival and dismissal, I would like to share a few important reminders:
Arrival Time: Students should not arrive on campus before 7:35 a.m., as there is no supervision available before this time.
Drop-Offs and Pick-Ups: All drop-offs and pick-ups must take place in our upper lot, following the designated traffic flow. Please remain in your car while your child exits or enters the vehicle to ensure a smooth and safe process. For your child's safety, we only allow students to enter through the passenger side of the vehicle. We understand there may be special circumstances, such as an injury, where you may need to park to assist your child. In those cases, of course, it is perfectly fine to step out and support them.
Bus-Only Zones: The lower lot is reserved for buses only from 7:35 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. and from 2:45 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. Please avoid using this area during those times to ensure the safety of our students boarding and exiting buses.
If you have any questions or need further clarification, please feel free to contact Ryan Murray at murray@ogschool.org.Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing you all soon!
Safety Drills
We will be conducting our first fire drill of the year this week, on September 10. This is an important opportunity for our students and staff to practice our safety procedures and ensure we are prepared in an emergency. If you are in the community and see our students gathered outside, please know this is part of our routine drill. As required, we will have multiple safety drills throughout the year to maintain the highest level of preparedness.
We will conduct an ALICE drill on September 25 at approximately 9:00 am. Please see this letter for additional information regarding ALICE and Oak Grove’s emergency procedures.
Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
As we welcome the 2024-2025 school year, I would like to see if you’re interested in joining the DEI committee. This committee is comprised of community members, staff, and administration who collaborate to best support our students and foster an inclusive environment. If you’re interested in joining the committee, please contact Ryan Murray at murray@ogschool.org.
Early Morning Library Hours for Grades 5-8
The Jr. High Library will now be open for students in grades 5-8 from 7:30-8:15 Monday-Thursday. Students enter through door 1 in the main office and must report straight to the library. This opportunity will be limited to 25 students each morning. We hope that students enjoy this opportunity to start their days in a more quiet environment.

Soaring Eagles!
Our Soaring Eagles Team is dedicated to inspiring students through monthly themes and blue ticket rewards for demonstrating positive behaviors like empathy and communication. At the end of each month, we draw two blue ticket winners from each K-5 classroom, and middle school students can shop at the school store run by our student council.
You can help by donating prizes or gift cards for our raffles. If you have items or would like to contribute, please contact skiefer@ogschool.org. Last year, generous PTO support allowed us to offer gift cards to places in Libertyville, such as Chipotle and Starbucks, as well as bigger prizes like Sox and Cubs game tickets. Any donation between $10-$50 would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your support!

Clubs
We encourage all of our students to get involved in extracurricular activities. Here is a slideshow with information regarding all of the clubs offered at OGS. If you have an inquiry or need further information, please reach out to the staff member listed on that club’s slide for additional information.
Volunteers needed! We need K-4th grade Room Parents and Party Volunteers, and 5-8th Grade Level Coordinators. Please sign up by September 6.
Mark your calendars! The PTO is partnering with Libertyville Culver’s and Honor Society volunteers on Tuesday, September 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. for a dine and donate night.
The Kona Ice truck is returning to Oak Grove on September 20. We would love some volunteers to supervise students and control the mess. Please sign up to volunteer here.
Don’t forget to update your info on the PTO website. If you’re a first-time user, the school code is 6KENTY. This is the only school/student directory parents have access to. Returning users - you’ll need to update your student’s grade and homeroom in your student’s profile.
8th Grade Families: Treat Train is currently collecting donations for the September date. Please consider donating here!
