Principal's Message
Parent-Teacher-Student Compact
Now that the school year is underway and we have met each other at Parent-Teacher Conferences, it is time to reaffirm our commitment to helping all children achieve their maximum potential. We believe that the responsibility for improved student achievement should be shared by parents and the school. It is our hope that this compact will build and foster the development of school-parent partnership.
Abraham Lincoln Elementary School and the parents of the students participating in activities, services and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), agree that this compact outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the Ohio Department of Education’s high standards. We welcome any comments or suggestions you may have for future revised compacts. These may be submitted in writing to Principal, Ms. Dawn Besteder.

- Be a positive role model.

Stay in the Game Perfect Parties
What is a Stay in the Game Perfect Party?
Each Month we celebrate students who have perfect attendance! Students must be in attendance every day for the month, without any tardies or leaving school early.
Our September Perfect party students received a snow-cone from Kona Ice. The October Perfect Party was a special treat and a movie/dance in the Cafetorium. We are combining November/December and students will have a dance party before we leave for Winter Break. #stayinthegamenetwork
Social Groups Permission Form
The school counseling department at Abraham Lincoln School wants to make you aware of our Social Groups. Students may or may not be chosen to participate in a group, but by giving permission it allows more flexibility to prepare groups. Some of the groups offered are:
1. Social Club, a group that focuses on social skills and helping students develop friendships. Some children might be shy, nervous about making friends or having difficulty making and keeping friends. During this group your child will develop social skills that will contribute to making and keeping friends in an environment that will respect differences and encourage acceptance.
2. Kids Supporting Kids group, which focuses on helping students identify and understand their thoughts and feelings associated with grief and loss. Because your child has experienced loss/separation or death of a loved one, we wish to provide them with the opportunity to participate in the group. During the group sessions, your child will develop positive coping skills, learn from the experiences of others and receive positive peer support.
3. Regulation Club, a group that focuses on self-regulation skills and helping student express themselves. During group sessions, your child will learn strategies to self-regulate and use their words to express themselves.
These groups will meet once a week for approximately 10 weeks. If you have any questions about the groups, please feel free to contact Rebecca Zverina, School Counselor at (216) 438-6030 x5030, rebecca.zverina@mapleschools.com

Parent Advisory Group Literacy Make it/Take it Night
Our Combined Parent Advisory Group meeting and Literacy Night was a success! Thanks to all the parents who participated. Thanks to the committee who made it possible! Parents & students please enjoy all the wonderful resources provided! Principal Besteder started the evening off by going over our Hopes & Dreams Data, then an explanation of the Dyslexia Letters sent home for 1st graders and coming soon for KG. Finally, Mrs. Satterfield went over all the resources and ways to use them at home, then the parents made their resources bags and went home. Ms. Shy our Community Family Engagement Coordinator was able to attend, speak to the parents, and invite them to Winter Fest. If you were unable to make it and would like to get info on the resources, please let your child's teacher know and we will send them home until we run out. Enjoy some photos from the event.
