Faculty Newsletter

• Please remember to update grades once per week. I'm hoping when we run grades next Friday morning we have at least two grades per class in PowerSchool, more would be nice. This also includes seminar class.
• Please be aware of the times you are supervising and find a replacement if you cannot make it.
• Be utilizing the seminar request sheet anytime you need to request a student.
• If you are taking students off campus please include their names on our shared travel sheet.
• I should wrap up visiting every classroom next week, after visiting classrooms I will start looking at evaluation schedules for those on the list ;) I will continue to try and visit each teachers room at least once per week, but more often as time allows!
• Class changes should be complete. If there is to be any class changes from this point forward Melissa, Bob, Kent, or I will contact you directly about them but don't expect any.
• Please be taking attendance every day within the first 10 minutes of class. We are working to ensure students are here but we need your help. FYI I am working on drafting truancy warning letters already, families will adjust, but it takes time!

• The more we focus on something, the more we think about something, the more it shows up in our lives.
• Start focusing your energy on your vision and what you want.
• The more you see it the more likely it will happen.
• If you build it in your mind, focus on seeing it, and take action, the success will come.

I wanted to share with everyone what I am looking for when I enter your classrooms. Right now what I am looking for is different than the future. I am not currently using any type of tool to record observations, but when I do I hope to give you feedback on what I am seeing. Overall I am very pleased with what I am seeing in your classrooms. Keep up the good work! Below is the list of major things I am looking for.

Right Now:

1. Student engagement in lesson
2. Teacher engagement with students
3. Objectives are posting the in room in student friendly terms (SWBAT or I Can statements)
4. Violations of school policy (sorry, cell phones are easy to spot :))

In the Future all the above plus:

1. Cognitive level
2. Type of Instruction
3. Classroom culture
