NEWS FROM DR. COOPER

Dear Families,


Students started their Winter MAP testing this week. Teachers use these reading & math assessments to guide their instruction and help students measure their growth. We will share students' reports with you via ParentVue in January.


Join us for Family Ornament Night tonight from 5:30-7:00. Some families have pre-ordered their ornaments but you can drop in and select ornaments. Cash or check will be accepted for payment.


Please remember arrival & dismissal protocols. Pull forward as far as possible & stay in your vehicle in order to keep the lane moving. Do not park in crosswalks and follow staff as they direct traffic. We pull off the dismissal of 450 kids in less than 10 minutes. We just need everyone's patience and willingness to follow our processes for 10 minutes.

WEEKLY BIST REPORT

How do students get to and from school? This week our focus is on arrival and dismissal expectations. When students arrive each morning, they enter through the door that is designated to their grade level. The exception to this is if the student eats breakfast at school or rides the bus to school; these students enter through the front doors. Neihardt's expectations of being respectful, responsible, and kind extend beyond our walls and are expected of students as they wait to start their school day. The same can be said for dismissal after school as we want everyone to get home safely to their families! A skill we are working on with students is responding appropriately to a greeting. Saying “Hello!” and “Goodbye!” are small interactions that help make Neihardt a place where all students want to be!

Thank you to Mr. Spagnola, father of Will & Gio and Mr. Burk, father of Yahdia who volunteered as our Watch D.O.G.S. this week. They spent their time in classrooms, PE, music class, eating lunch with their students and recess. We appreciate you coming in and volunteering.
