The Weekly SharkBeat!
SJHS Weekly Parent Newsletter - October 1, 2023
Happy Fall!
It's hard to believe October is already here. We had an exciting week celebrating Homecoming 2023. Congratulations to our Homecoming Court and float winners. Our students celebrated daily with dress up days, adding lots of excitement in the halls. We ended this week with an exciting football game, as students and parents came out to support our Sharks.
I would like to encourage students to continue their hard work in the classroom. The end of 1st quarter is coming up on October 25 and we want everyone to do their absolute best.
As a reminder there is no school for students on October 9th & 10th. Testing begins this month. Please see below for testing dates and plan accordingly if your child has appointments or needs to leave early. Also, if you have not joined our PTSO, what are you waiting for? Please consider being a part of this organization to help our students and faculty.
Thank you for taking the time to review the Weekly Sharkbeat Newsletter. Please check the school website and Facebook page for additional updates and information. Thank you for choosing to be a part of the Shark family. Have a great evening, keep swimming forward, and as always, Go SHARKS!

Be Pro Be Proud!
We had the privilege of having the Be Pro Be Proud truck visit SJHS. Our students were able to participate in simulators for welding, truck driving, and construction. They also learned about different professions in the skilled workforce.
Parents Picking Up Students On Salem Road
Parents should always use the front entrance to pick students up for early dismissal. Additionally, we ask that you not park on Salem Road or its adjacent streets to pick up students. Having students walk on Salem to meet their ride creates an unsafe situation for your child. Please help us keep our students safe by following our traffic pattern.

The Lowes Foods Cart 2 Class Program is a very EASY and FREE way to earn money for your children's school(s). For every private label purchase you make, Lowes Foods donates a percentage of those sales to the school and every year they donate $250,000 to schools across the Carolinas.
Lowes Foods has a wide variety of private labels ranging from pet food to cleaning supplies and of course your everyday groceries. Attached is the Cart 2 Class flyer that mentions all of the private labels that count for this program.
If you have participated in the Cart 2 Class Program before you need to re-link your card every August. It only takes a minute and you can click here and enter your Fresh Rewards Card number and choose up to 3 schools. Each school get the same percentage whether it’s 1 school or 3.
Can’t find your Rewards Card? That’s ok you can click here to use your phone number. If you’re having trouble linking your card or if you need a Lowes Foods Rewards Card, you can grab one at any register and any of their hosts can help you get enrolled.
We hope you will continue to support St. James High School PTSO by enrolling in the Cart 2 Class Program with Lowes Foods.
Early Pick Up
If you plan to pick your student up early or your student will drive off campus early, please send a note with your student to be turned in before school starts at the Welcome Desk. We will verify the note and give your student a pass to meet you or leave at the appropriate time. Sending a note cuts down on class interruptions. Unfortunately, we cannot accept phone calls or emails to dismiss students. We appreciate your help.
