Eastside's Musical Theatre presents the well-loved classic musical, The Wizard of Oz from May 22 - 24 at 7:00 pm and May 25 at 2:00.
Tickets for the ESS production of The Wizard of Oz are now available to purchase online at Eventbrite or if families want paper tickets, those are being sold in the main office at ESS on school days from 8:00 to 3:00 (cash only at the office).
Tickets will also be available at the door at each performance.
Mid-Semester Report Cards
On Thursday April 25th all students will be given their mid-semester report cards to take home. Families can also access these reports using the Aspen link on our Website. We have also posted some instructions that show how to login. You will find the progress report at the bottom of the "Pages" top tab.
Please take a few minutes with your youth to review the report card comments and learning skills and to help them to set goals for success for the remainder of the semester. We encourage you to contact teachers and for students to seek extra help at school if they are struggling.
Graduating This Year?
Graduation will be held June 27, 2024 in the gymnasium at the school. Students and families will be able to choose to attend individual / small group or the large group graduations. Information has been shared directly to email and has been posted to the Grade 12 Google Classroom.
Many potential graduates have not yet submitted their Community Involvement Hours. Each graduate is required to complete 40 hours to be eligible to graduate. More information about this requirement and a link to submit a record of completion can be found on our website.
A Healthy Relationship with Food: What it Means for your Teen
Food is part of our everyday lives. Each person has their own way of approaching it. We all have a unique relationship with food - how we think about it, talk about it, and enjoy it.
As a parent or caregiver, you play an important role in shaping your teen’s relationship with food. Your words and actions influence their growth, social well-being, and mental health.

Special Education Equipment - Chromebooks
This information applies to students who have access to Chromebooks based on IEP accommodations (e.g. access to digital texts, access to text to speech).
To maximize access to devices, Eastside has changed our approach to the distribution of equipment. Devices will now be assigned to classrooms rather than to individual students. Students who have technology-related accommodations have first access to devices.
If a student requires a 1 to 1 device to be successful in their academic program, please connect with Jen Mullins (jmullins@hpedsb.on.ca) and a device will be assigned.
Students in Life Skills and Community Integration programs will maintain access to their devices.
Action: If your youth currently has a Chromebook that is not assigned to them under our new process, please have them return it to the library so that it can be redeployed to the classroom.
School Council
Eastside Secondary School has an active School Council that consists of parents, staff, students, and community members. Meetings are held regularly. The team works together as an advisory group to support excellent programming and to foster ongoing school improvement.
If you are interested, please join us at 5:30 on May 27th in the library or Virtually.
