A Word From Mrs. Loor
Dear Franklin Families,
One of our wonderful traditions in fifth grade is to engage in a service project. Students learned about Bridges Outreach, an organization dedicated to tackling chronic homelessness and food insecurity. Students packed over 200 sustainable lunches and wrote encouraging messages on the bags. These lunches will be distributed in our neighboring towns during Bridges' weekly outreaches.
April is Neurodiversity Acceptance Month. To celebrate, we will have a spirit week, chalk the sidewalks with positive and inclusive messages as well as read about all the ways people learn and think differently. Each week, we will highlight a famous figure who is neurodivergent. Please see the spirit week flyer below.
We have other exciting school events lined up this week as well. We will have a Bash the Trash assembly on Tuesday, April 1st courtesy of the PTO. Bash the Trash uses musical instruments made from recycled and reused materials to explore concepts of sound, science, and sustainability. Our 2nd graders will be able to build their own instrument using the items that were brought in from home.
On Thursday, 5th graders will be holding their annual TREP$ marketplace in the Franklin gym. All classes are signed up to visit the marketplace and purchase the products created by the 5th graders. Profits will be donated to a charity of the grade's choice.
As a reminder, report cards are available on the Genesis Parent Portal. Here are the directions on how to find your child's report card in Genesis.
Have a fabulous week!
With Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Loor

Neurodiversity Acceptance Month Spotlight
Benjamin Franklin
It is said that the founding father of the United States, Benjamin Franklin, was on the autism spectrum. Albeit having a mild form of autism, Franklin famously explained his learning process: “Tell me, and I forget. Teach me, and I remember. Involve me, and I learn.”
