General
- Starting off the week by congratulating the Grade 6 class on their drama production, Compose Yourself! 🎭 Way to go, students—your performances showcased the incredible talent of everyone involved. 👏 A big thank you to the following staff for their time and dedication: Ms. Snyder, Ms. Krikke, Ms. Hoogstra, and Ms. Stam!
No Craft Day this Christmas (we will do one in the Spring) due to the Christmas concert. However, Grade 1 & 2 are doing a craft in the classroom and need canning jar rings (any size). Thanks!
- Wrap yourself in holiday cheer - it's Festive Dress-Up Day this Thursday, Dec 12! 🎅

- Grade 7 & 8 are excited to invite you to their Market Day this week Friday! All are welcome!
- Students from other grades will also have an opportunity to come through and see the work and purchase items if they would like. Students can expect items to sell for about $2 - $5 (there will be a few $10/$12 items).

- 10:30 AM Performance
- Please ensure your child is dressed in their almost Sunday best for the morning performance.
- Anyone is welcome to attend the 10:30 performance (not just seniors). Speaking of seniors...have you invited your Grandparents?
- Following the daytime performance, there will be soup and buns served for seniors, provided by the Grade 7 class (and their parents)!
- 7:00 PM Performance
- Please have your child dressed in their Sunday best for the evening performance.
- To create a positive concert experience for everyone, parents of Middle School students are requested to have their children sit with them, rather than as groups of unsupervised students. Thank you!

Christmas Concert Refreshments 🧁
- We're looking for 40 dozen pieces of baking for the K-5 Christmas concert on Dec. 18, as well as one person to help with refreshment set-up beforehand, and several people for clean-up afterwards. If you're able to help out with any of these needs, please contact Jan Broersma (kjbroersma@gmail.com), or pop a note on our Credo Aid Facebook page (where we'll also post this request).

- KA will be at school on Friday and will have the opportunity to walk through the market with a Middle School buddy. If your child is interested in making a purchase (their buddy will assist them), please place their money inside a clearly labeled plastic bag. Most items are priced between $2 and $5. Also, please provide clear instructions to your child about how you would like them to spend their money (e.g., spend it all, spend it on sweets, buy a gift, etc.). Thank you!

Grade 1 - Ms. Scholtens
- We are in the full swing of Christmas now. Thanks to Mrs. Scheper for our trip to Glow last week and to Opa Scholtens for driving (how fun to have the teacher's dad be the bus driver!). We really enjoyed it!
- Wednesday is a grade one day off. Please do not send your child to school.
- Thursday is a Christmas dress up day. Come in your Christmasy best!
- Friday is market day. We will be going with an older class to help us shop. Please send some money along with your child. More details in the General section!

Grade 3 - Ms. Visscher
- Last week, the Grade 3s visited the Senior Social, and the seniors absolutely loved having them there to sing Christmas songs, play games, and hand out Christmas cards. In the next two weeks, we’ll be wrapping up projects, practicing for the Christmas concert, and enjoying some holiday-themed activities!
- Memory Work: Psalm 75:1, due Friday, December 13.
- Bible: We're learning more about Joseph and how God communicated His plans through his dreams.
- Writing: Students are starting their creative stories, using their written outlines and applying the descriptive techniques they've learned.
- Reading: Students are sharing their Book-in-a-Bag projects on Monday and Tuesday, bringing their creativity to life! To wrap up our unit, on Thursday we’ll watch Sarah, Plain and Tall and discuss the connections between the book and the movie.
- Math: We are continuing to work on our Geometry Town projects, applying our understanding of shapes to create unique town designs.
- Socials: Students are enthusiastically working in pairs to create informative posters showcasing a local or global Indigenous group.

Grade 4B - Ms. Vantil
- Welcome back to another week! We have a couple of assignments and quizzes this week as we begin to wrap up a couple of our units in advance of Christmas holidays which are only a couple of weeks away. This week we also have a Festive Day to celebrate the season on Thursday, Market day on Friday, and Report Cards will be going home Friday as well!
- Memory Work: Hymn 16:4 due this week Friday, December 13
- Bible: This week in Bible, we will be moving on to our new unit all about the next king of Israel, Solomon.
- Math: With our unit test complete, it is time to move on to our new unit, Division! This week in Math we will discuss just how related Division and Multiplication are as well as discuss how we can divide larger numbers.
- Social Studies: It is our last week in Social Studies with the Vikings. This week we will be, the Lord willing, having our unit quiz tomorrow, December 10. Students have received a review sheet that they are advised to study in advance of the quiz. We will also be wrapping up our work with the Vikings in Writing class, finishing paragraphs all about a Day in the Life… as a Viking.
- Science: This week we will be continuing in our new unit all about the Earth and its motions. This week we will discuss Earth’s revolution around the Sun, its rotation per day, and the way that both these things affect the Earth’s seasons.
- ELA: This week we begin reading our new novel: Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. Also, a reminder that Reading Ninja Logs are due next week Monday, December 16. This will be the last Reading Ninja Log of this calendar year!
- Music (NS): The students have been doing AMAZING work with “Sing We Now Of Christmas” ! Please encourage your child to practice at home, as they will be playing this from memory. Here is the melody part and here is the harmony part.
- Art: In Art this week we will be learning from our new Artist of the Month: Pablo Picasso, all about Repetition.
- P.E: Basketball!
Grade 5 - Mrs. VanSpronsen & Mrs. Vanrhee
- There are a lot of exciting activities coming up! Grade 5 really seems to be having a memorable time with these enriching experiences. The swimming at Walnut Grove Community Center was a great start. Students completed a swim test at the point of entry. That sparked some interesting discussion on students' swimming lesson experiences.
- The Glow field trip on Tuesday will be an amazing opportunity for the students! It’s wonderful that parents can join the tour by meeting at the Glow parking lot at 12:15- it’s a great way to create community and share in the excitement (Dress warmly as it’s an indoor and outdoor event). Grade 5 is collecting non-perishable items for the food bank at this event.
- And then there's the Merry and Make workshop on Friday morning! Thank you, Krista, Deanna, Brenda, and Allison who will be crafting along with the students—such a fun, hands-on way to get creative. A big shout-out to Jenise and Kiera as well for all their hard work preparing for the event. It’s shaping up to be a memorable week for everyone involved! Students will need gloves and clippers for this event.

- Reading: The marked test will be coming home today! We will be working on a reflection one-pager till the Christmas Break

- Art: Christmas Posters for NOEL, Painting Christmas Ornaments, decorating our door
- Writing: Developing Voice in our writing
- Math (NV): Financial Literacy with a focus on counting and making change
- Socials: Non-sustainable resources with a focus on mining practices (beginning our review this week for a test on Tuesday, Dec. 17)
- French (SP): We will finish designing our schools and then have a quiz on the rooms of a school on Thursday.
- Music (NS): We are working on our Christmas Program songs on the ukulele: Noel, Sing We the Song of Emmanuel (the Gloria).
Grade 6A - Ms. Krikke
- Wow! What a whirlwind week we had and an excellent final performance. Thanks to all who made the “behind the scenes” work happen helping your children practice lines, finding costumes, and even building some set pieces! We appreciated the full-house Thursday night. Now, two full weeks until break wrapping up units, attending Market Day, caroling singing at Harrison Pointe, a trip to Theatre in the Country, and enjoying some Christmas cheer around the school. Look forward to an email from me regarding the grade 6 gift exchange.
- Memory Work: We’re taking a break from memory work until the musical is done.
- Bible: Working on polishing up our Dream Booklet drawings this week and looking forward to our guest speaker Rev Hank Van der Woerd talking about the parallel between Joseph’s life and Jesus’.
- Drama: To wrap-up our Drama unit, we are heading to Theatre in the Country this morning to tour their theatre and see their set-up for their current production of Mary Poppins. We will also be completing a self-reflection on the drama process.
- Math (DJ): We will write a test on Graphing this Tuesday (review and unit work will come home today). We will then complete a Graphing project.
- Socials: We will be presenting our discrimination picture book projects on Tuesday and having an open notes test on Friday. Note there will be no review sheet coming home for Friday’s open notes test. Students will complete their review sheet on Wednesday in-class for use in Friday’s test.
- Science (KN): We are continuing our unit on mixtures. We will be learning different types of mixtures and some new vocabulary this week.
- French: We have finished our Unit 2 lessons and will be using class time to review before next week’s test. Tested content will be: irregular verb: faire, animal vocabulary, identifying nouns (le/la, un/une), and making verbs negative (ne (verb)__ pas). Students can use the materials posted on Google Classroom (review sheet and Blooket links) to study.
- Art: Bird Mosaics.

- PE (SP): Floor Hockey

Grade 7 - Mr. Pruim
- It’s the week of Market Day! Please make sure to check-in with your child that they are ready to go for Friday! In addition to Market Day, this is a full week of trying to wrap things up before the break. Please look for an email from me regarding the Grade 7 Secret Santa exchange that we have arranged.
- Memory Work: Psalm 33:20-21(ESV) due Thursday, December 12.
- Bible: We are learning about King David; a godly king, but not a Messianic one.
- English: The final chapter of A Wrinkle in Time! A short vocab and comprehension quiz will be written on Wednesday. Then, work on a final project connected to our novel is going to begin!
- Math: Our final lesson for this mini unit is on dividing decimals. Students will write a short quiz on Tuesday and then they will begin making games which consist of questions about fractions and decimals.
- Science (NS): Students did very well on their ‘Climate Change’ test. We are moving into our sustainability unit now.
- Socials: The ABC religion books are complete! This week they will be printed, bound, read, and students will self and peer review.
- Art: No art block this week.
- ADST: Market Day table preparations and Market Day itself!
- Music (NS): “Opening” from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” due Wednesday, Dec 16. Students are welcome to prepare a solo piece for a “Show & Share” for Dec.16 - this doesn’t have to be on their band instrument, although, that’s strongly encouraged :).

- Friday, December 20 we will be doing a class wide gift exchange. Students are asked to bring in a ~$10 gift, including socks used as the wrapping, for this day.

- Bible: The final Luke project is due Thursday.
- English (NK): This week, we are reading the short stories A Sound of Thunder and The Interlopers.
- Math: This week we will begin a final project using the Pythagorean Theorem.
