Information/Updates about Pickerington High School Central
Message from Mr. Lanier
Tiger Nation
Happy Mother's Day to all of our Moms in Tiger Nation. Moms do so much for us. They are our biggest champion; pick us up when we fall down; help us understand that we can be more than we think we can be; and above all else give us their unconditional love. Take some time to thank and celebrate all of our Moms tomorrow!!
We are entering the final 2 weeks of the school year. Students need to focus on finishing the school year strong. Look for something to do better right up to the last day of school. Find a way to leave PHSC better than you found it when you arrived last August. Finally, embrace a mindset that obstacles are not roadblocks but something that is placed in front of us to help us grow and become stronger. Overcoming obstacles is part of life and makes what is on the other side so much sweeter when we get to it!!
Let's have a great week of learning.
Here we go!!
Tiger Up,
Mr. Lanier

Attention Seniors: Two Mandatory Surveys for Seniors are Below
The following surveys are vital to close out the Senior year for our students in the Class of 2024!!
Mandatory Senior Survey
Seniors, please make sure to fill out this mandatory survey. The information that you provide on this form will ensure you are acknowledged appropriately at graduation and that if you are requesting final transcripts - they find their home.
Graduation Survey:
Name Pronunciation Submission Form
Congratulations, Class of 2024 you made it! We try our best to say each name correctly, but sometimes we need your help in order for us to pronounce your name at graduation. Please complete this form if you have a name (first, middle and/or last name) that we may need help saying correctly. Remember, graduation is crowded and fast-paced, and we are all nervous. So filling out this form will help everyone, and graduation will run more smoothly. Since the graduation list is not in alphabetical order by student, I need you to answer each question. This Google form will close on Wednesday, May 15th in order for names to be correct for graduation practice on May 20th. Congratulations again on graduation! Once a Tiger always a Tiger!!

Graduation Tickets are now Available
Important information about Graduation Tickets
Class of 2024 students and families!! This is the communication you have been waiting for!! Graduation tickets are now available through the PHSC box office online. The student ID# is the code families/students will use to claim their tickets.
Important Reminders:
1. EACH Graduate will receive 8 tickets to the event.
2. Tickets are FREE!!
3. Please claim all 8 tickets in one sitting when you login to the ticket site. The student code is ONLY good for one visit to the site. Please be mindful that the system will also time you out if you do not complete the transaction in a timely manner. This will make the code invalid moving forward. If you have difficulty with claiming your tickets, please reach out to the main office.
4. NEVER pay someone else for tickets or get extra tickets from other people. PLSD is not responsible for duplicate tickets to the event. All tickets will be scanned at the event and there have been incidents at past graduations where guests tried to use a shared ticket that ended up being a duplicate and they were not permitted into the event.
5. Graduation will start promptly at Noon on May 25. Guests should plan to arrive prior to the event as no guests will be permitted into the ceremony once it begins. Doors to the event will open at 11 a.m.
We are looking forward to celebrating the Class of 2024!!

Safe Prom Message
Let's have a great, safe, and memorable evening.
Tiger Nation,
PHSC is excited for tonight's prom held at the Hyatt Regency. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the dance will end at 11:00 p.m. Ticket scanning will end at 9:00 p.m. so all guests need to be in the door by that time.
As a reminder, all school rules apply. We remind students to make safe choices before, during, and after the dance. A lot of planning has gone into the event and we are so excited for our students to experience prom in such a wonderful venue. It will be truly a 'Starry Night' of food, fun, and dancing.
Tiger Up,
Mr. Lanier

FAFSA UPDATE FOR SENIORS GETTING READY TO GRADUATE!!!
As 2023 comes to a close, we wanted to remind our Seniors that the FAFSA has been delayed to open until sometime this month. A specific date has still not been provided but the Federal Government has a deadline of opening the FAFSA by December 31, 2023.
Typically in the past, the FAFSA opened up on October 1st during a student's Senior year but that has been delayed so changes to the FAFSA can be completed to match current legal requirements.
As a result of this update, there are some significant changes to the FAFSA application and some new requirements to complete it. Please check this link out from Kent State University to review additional information about national FAFSA changes. These changes are not unique to Kent State and will be required for any family completing the FAFSA.
You can view our Senior HUB. Here you will find answers to many of our FAQs.
Here is a Senior year timeline that we’ve put together for our Seniors and their parents. We will be scheduling time to meet with all Seniors during the month of September to go over the following information.

Summer Break: Partnering for Student Safety Online
Staying Connected, Staying Safe
As summer approaches and students enjoy their well-deserved break, we want to partner with you in ensuring their continued online safety. District-issued devices have monitoring software in place to help safeguard students from harmful content. While this monitoring software remains active throughout the summer, school staff will not be available to check student activity during this time.
Here's How We Can Work Together:
Increased Parental Supervision: Just like with any personally-owned device, we encourage you to closely monitor your child's activity on their school device throughout the summer. Engage in open conversations about responsible online behavior and safe browsing habits.
Content Filtering Remains Active: School-issued devices have filters in place to block inappropriate content, helping to create a safer online environment for students. These filters play a vital role, but it's important to remember that no filtering system is foolproof.
Additional Resources:
We have compiled a list of helpful resources to empower you in supporting your child's digital wellbeing:
PLSD Tech Town Halls: Dive into our insightful technology town hall meetings on the PLSD Communications YouTube Channel YouTube: plsdcommunications. Gain valuable tips and strategies for promoting safe online habits for your child.
Common Sense Media: Explore the extensive resources on Common Sense Media (https://www.commonsensemedia.org/). This website offers a wealth of age-appropriate content guides and practical advice tailored to your child's specific grade level.
