Student Chromebook Check-In!
We’re almost halfway through school year and it’s a great time to check-in that your student can locate all three pieces to their assigned Chromebook set: Chromebook, charger, and protective carry bag.
If your student has misplaced any part of their Chromebook set, or if their device or charger is not working as expected, start a tech support ticket at go.nsd.org/studenttechhelp.
For a smooth return to school on January 3rd, please encourage your student to charge their Chromebook overnight, and power off after use. NSD Student Chromebook Handbook
From the Counselor
This year, Northshore School District has adopted a new curriculum to help students learn about and prevent bullying in our school, the Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit.
Each class, in grades 3-5, will receive four lessons. In these lessons, your child will learn specific skills to help stop bullying. Students will learn how to:
• Recognize when bullying is happening
• Report bullying to a caring adult
• Refuse to let bullying happen to themselves or others
• Be an upstander not a bystander. An upstander is someone who stands up and is part of the solution to bullying
If you have any questions about the Bullying Prevention Unit or the Second Step program, please contact me.
For further information on our district's policies and procedures regarding harassment, intimidation, and bullying, please visit the district website.
Thank you for helping us make our school a safe, respectful place where everyone can learn.

Winter Weather is Here!
- The decision to close or delay schools due to inclement weather is made by the Superintendent as early as possible, typically by 5:30 a.m. Northshore is a large district that covers more than 60 miles. While conditions may seem normal in your neighborhood, it may be unsafe in others.
- Remember, if the District does not make an announcement, it means schools are open and buses are operating normally.
- To ensure you receive a phone call, email and/or text message from the district, it is important to make sure your family’s contact information is current. Families can verify contact information in ParentVUE. Please contact the school if you need help accessing ParentVUE or updating contact information.
Read-a-Thon - January 9th-20th
It’s time to kick off our Kokanee PTA Read-A-Thon fundraiser!
As parents, we want our kids to be excited about reading, and last year's Read-a-thon reminded us of the power of an all-school event. Our Read-A-Thon gives friends and family, near and far, the opportunity to encourage your child to read more and help our community, all while boosting their education. Kids will earn prizes for getting started, reading, and raising donations through their personal Read-A-Thon page. In addition, the top 10 readers and raisers for each grade will be entered in a raffle to win a new bike!
Our Read-A-Thon starts Monday, January 9, 2023 and will run until January 20, 2023.
PTA will send home a packet that includes the instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page where you will be able to view and record their progress. We hope this fundraiser also provides many opportunities for cozy reading moments with your child.
